Today, for her birthday treat, I took my friend and mother of my GS to Bristol to see the almighty OMD.
As it was a birthday treat, I'd booked a table at The Ox so we could enjoy a pre show steak each. These were lovely but the staff didn't seem too bothered so we won't be going there again.
We then made our way to Colston Hall in time for the support act: Tiny Magnetic Pets. The three piece were great and heavily influenced by electro pioneers and, with a female vocalist, particularly sounded like a cross between Goldfrapp and Ultravox.
Then it was time for the main act. Despite injuring his knee the previous night in Liverpool, Andy still managed a fair stab at his signature and unique dancing. The band consisted of Paul, Andy, Martin and Stewart Kershaw. The set was a mix of be material from The Punishment of Luxury and classics. The new compositions sit well alongside the old. The audience vote was for Genetic Engineering - a real treat to here that.
So another great show which my friend thoroughly enjoyed, and I'm looking forward to seeing both bands again next month in Birmingham.
