Over the last few months, I've been to see a few shows. Therefore, here's a brief resume.
16 Dec 2017 & 6 Jan 2018 - d*** Whittington - Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Guildford
So good I saw it twice! OK, so that's not strictly accurate - though it was good enough to see twice. Mum and I had booked to see the Guildford Panto with a couple of her neighbours. Unfortunately, Mum had a fall and was in hospital. The neighbours and I went anyway and had a highly enjoyable, belly laughing evening of traditional Panto fun. When Mum was better I took her so she didn't miss out.
30 Dec 2017 - Blue Man Group - International Conference Centre Birmingham
I was lucky enough to have seen the phenomenen known as The Blue Man Group many years ago. When it was announced that Birmingham was their only 2017 UK tour date, I decided to treat my GS and his Mum to this fantastic show as their Christmas present. It's almost impossible to describe what the show is - highly entertaining mime and performance art with rock music - so I won't bother. However, both my companions thoroughly enjoyed it. To round off a perfect trip, we popped across the canal to Handmade Burger Company.
20 Jan 2018 - Private Lives - Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Guildford
Mum and I popped back to Guildford to watch this excellent production of the Noel Coward classic. Great fun.
10 Feb 2018 - The Case of The Frightened Lady - Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Guildford
Another trip to Guildford with Mum to see this classic Edgar Wallace thriller starring Rula Lenska. It made for another very entertaining evening.
23 Mar 2018 - 42nd Street - Theatre Royal Drury Lane
Back in January I celebrated my 50th birthday and my brother and his girlfriend decided to treat me to an evening out. Therefore, now knowing what was in store I met up with them in central London. First they took me to a steakhouse for a lovely three-course meal - so we ate. Then they took me to see 42nd Street. It was a fantastic production of this classic excuse to celebrate tap-dancing. Full of energy with great choreography, it made for a great mathematical based celebration.
24 Mar 2018 - An Evening with John Simpson - Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Guildford
In complete contrast to the previous night, Mum and I enjoyed this quiet and entertaining discussion by John Simpson. To say the least, he's led an interesting life!
19 May 2018 - Chess - London Coliseum
Mum and I took what is now a rare trip up to London to see the ENO's production of Chess, starring Michael Ball. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening although Mum found the production a little too modern as they used live cameras to supplementthe stage action.
