So....before you read this blog please check out the one before of our first two days in the village....this is the next episode...and our next two days in the village....
But before that....our last day....so after the broken cup incident...we decided seeing as though only the handle was broken off of the cup, we would put pens in it for the security guards. Rose also made them a sign to go over their door as their room is the only one without a sign over the door. A mid-day internet session, when Mr Hello Security Guard came in and invited us to supper.....unfortunatley we had to decline as we had to go to 'Somme's' house....Somme is the kind of head head head of Ullens. but just under Guy Ullens...(Lizzie prepare yourself, as from now on, it all gets a bit emotional!) At our response, Mr Hello put his head in his hands and genuinely looked pained....it was almost like a huge joke, but it went on, and we weren't sure whether to laugh or cry as he really seems so sad about us departing.....So we gave him our address, and we have his, and we are going to attempt to be 'Pen friends'....sooooo sweet! So then we gave the boys our presents....but they said that they wouldn't open them until we got back from Sommes house....OK...
So off we went to supper, and we found out that Mahesh and Mumta were also coming which would definitely make the convo flow easier as they have both just returned from America but also my favourite person in the whole wide world....'Olga' (the old lady who took us out on christmas eve) ....arrived and got on the red wine....and got talking about our 'Local night bus' to India the next day.....Its fair to say that we have been extremely worried about getting onto this bus, as every Nepali that we have spoken to has advised us not to do it, but when Msogeny (Sommes wife) went into a whole tralala about how in the last week there have been three bombs in local buses and buses on the route that we are due to travel on....we began to feel slightly more uneasy....but hey hey....budget travellers....its booked and it will be fine....when BOOM BAM BOOM BAM....Somme says 'we (Ullens) would like to pay for your flight to the border'....SAY WHAAAAATTTT.....So it appears that we now leave for India tomorrow morning....ON A PLANE!!! So unbelieviably kind and a lovely leaving present....do you think we can leave the 'Swoyabhu statues' yet??!!
So arrived back at Ullens at 10pm...where we found 'Mr Hello', 'Mr 2 Star' and 'Mr Good-looking' waiting for us...oh my goodness....we had a party....they had brought a bottle of coke for us all to share, and a present each....literally the nicest people ever, and we were quite gobsmacked....a proper Nepali purse with 7 rupees in it each.....SO KIND!!! WE LOVE THEM.....and then they opened their presents and loved them.....we sat with them for 1 hour and a half....and the convo flowed...we honestly will miss them SO much....11.45pm after a very sugary tea, it was hugs all around, and goodbyes....its quite embarrassing, as we now call 'Mr 2 star' Mr 2 star, and 'Mr Hello' Mr Hello....but we obviously can't call 'Mr goodlooking by his nickname' so we just have to say 'him'.....Me and Rose had then planned to go upstairs and lay under the stars on our roof, listening to some emotional music and push out some tears ...but the stars were disappointing so maybe tonight!
So today just packing and then off tomorrow...our last ever blog entry in Nepal! But now take yourselves back to our third day in the village....We awoke at 5.30am to what sounded like 20 babu's crying....and up at 7am for a susu (wee wee) mannnn the flies were EVERYWHERE! So we got dressed and then watched the grandpa make curd....quite an amazing thing to watch....really fast mixing of milk, but he had made a type of rowing machine to do it with.....its quite hard to explain so i won't go into it! He then gave us some with beaten rice.....i can honestly say apart from the milk tea when we arrived in Nepal, i have never tasted anything so disgusting...Rose agrees, but she did the good thing and wolfed it down....every mouthful with me seemed to half reappear, and then he asked us if we wanted more...'pugyo pugyo' (enough enough) and on he dolloped another spoonful....it had an awful tingly sour taste kind of like gone off milk....oh my it was bad....no way we could have left any though, he would have been majorly hurt....
So then literally 1 hour later, and not feeling to great from the curd....lunch.....and lassie (watered down curd drink...) this was just as bad, maybe worse (Rose says worse)....onwards to school with some strange gurglings...potentially the start of something in the bellies....lorra lorra painting, and playing with the local children....we played a classic game of me sticking my finger through a hole in the table and pretending it was a worm...they digged it....and then VERY FUNNY....a little boy probs about 3 or 4, who STILL had dried snot on his cheek from 3 days previously....had trousers that were far too big for him on, so when he ran he had to put both of his hands in his pockets to hold them up....it really didn't speed up his running at all! But very funny to watch!
So after SO much food we had a snack of chicken and aloo (potatoe)....stomach not quite enjoying this....Chantelle (French teacher of IB)...she is actually french, but came here 30 years ago and married a Nepali...so she was great, so nice, speaks Nepali...and knows the ins and outs of the culture, so we learnt a lot!
Supper....More dahl baht....but best thing....PURE BUFFALO MILK....wow, so yummy! And then bed....very embarrassingly me and Rose completely lost it with the giggles from a culmination of tiredness, fullness and dirtyness....but also...Mr Yadav (IB Maths teacher).....his PANTS.....we saw his PANTS....we saw a Nepalese man in his pants, and proper women styley pants too....we LOVED them!....anyhow...both gurgling stomachs....in the room of a house on the second floor where you have to climb up a ladder....and sharing a room with a lot of people...plus no toilet.....what happens if we are sick....or need a desperate poo poo???
Rosa....
Day 4 in da Chabang village....1.30am babu's crying and stomach churning...we definitely were fed too much food yesterday and it is NOT sitting well. Woke at the usual 5.30am with the rest of the house and meg leptup...'I'm going to the loo'...20 mins later....the curd and lassie was out (sorry mumma as we promised no bowl stories) but lets just say the loo is quite far away...so thank goodness for all the fields...right Meg???
So got up eventually for some tea....they found out our tummys were a little sore, so tried to feed up hotw ater and salt, we rejected...so....out came the curd!! NO THANK YOU....again declined. Meg is feeling particularly rough, which soon the whole village found out about, and some of the ullens boys even came down to check up on her....sweeties!!
While waiting for lunch there was a massive disturbance within the village...a major discussion was in proccess...the village hand found out that one of their village girls at the age of 14 was in a relationship with a different village's 21 year old male...NOT COOL in their eyes...mixed casts is not the done ting. Worst of all, as yadav said they have been 'playing with each other' and the 14year old girl is now pregnant...seriously not a good situation and a massive deal in the village. they had a meet to decide what should happen....but we were told that the males in our village had said if they catch the male they will beat him up or evn try to kill him....it was a serious matter. So the male had gone into hidding....and now the girl was left pregnant, which if she has the baby they will both be outed by their village...so they say she has to abort it....so that was all a little scary!!
Had a late lunch, meg just had rice and we both asked for a major cut down in the amount. So headed to school...not much goung on as the painting is all done and as its saturday, no school! Meg feeling a bit dicky, so headed to bed....Dinesh and Mahesh and a few other teachers arrived, to check up on things. Dinesh is head of IB so was visiting ALL 3 villages in theone day....mental! So they stayed for about 45mins, bought up medicine, as some of the kids have rashes, and sore tummies etc!!
Then in the afyernoon, meg slept and I helped out Chantelle and 2 IB students make a world map to put up in the class room....had a great chat with them all. The boy had been to france and england so lots to talk about. they forgot to add England...so i drew it in MASSIVE...which chantelle was not impressed with as france was barely drawn on....so I cut it down in size eventually!!
Chantelle bought a frisbee from Shane to the village, which I LOVE!! I am a frisbee queen....I love it! So had a frisbee mania...I juts threw the frisbee with all the boys...I am the frisbee unbeaten champion, as no one could out throw me!! Yes, my brothers will be proud of me! Got some of the village childers to join in too, which was really nice. Especially as when ever it went over the hill they all ran over the edge to fetch it for us!!
The little kids were getting really brave and now sitting with us, resting upon us. The girls were even playing with my hair....they said in Nepali (which chatelle translated) that as I have grey hair i must be an old lady....i think I need to buy some hair dye!! meg came back up to use the loo...then after more frisbee we headed down to supper.
There are 3 new male staff, all very funny. One has the loudest laugh, its hysterical!! So had a good giggle at supps with them all....then hit the sack. but after the light was out the old man came in, turned on the light to have a chat with yadav....who was quite shocked as he was layed JUST in his panties....he had to put his pillow over his lap to hid his private parts!! VERY AMUSING!! Then at 2.30am the phone upstairs rang....which the woman who was asleep DOWNSTAIRS had to come all the way up to answer....but there were about 10 people in the same room as the phone...bizzaar!!
Awoke and Meg is feeling MUCH better, had some brekkie....I went upto use the loo and had a great chat with 2 IB boys about Harry Potter, one of them has read it at least 25 times....crazy boy!! SO had our last lunch, and bode farewell...they have been so lovely to us, the old man even carried our bag to the school. Got to the school at 10.30....the 2 IB boys were painting and they told us that the girls had only just awoken....bad girlies!! So a little frisbee session for me...my final one....then off we headed down the hill, us, chantelle and 2 of the men staff....much much quicker than goingup...only took us 2 hours, however on the way down meg dropped the camera and it stopped working....classic Meg again!! but as said, it does work when upside down...an intresting take of India it shall be!
Dinesh finally arrived to pick us up and we headed for the valley at 4ish....feels good to be headed home! So that was our trip to da village....it was insanely amazing....we have photos on facebook so check them out! It really is a different world....we found that they earn on average only 5 pounds a month...we are soooo lucky to have the chance to go to da village! AMAZING.
So back home now, all good, got the gas leak fixed! And we found out that there was a parcel for us....yipeee!! Opened it up, its our pressie from Mumma Dyos....a book, book torch, folding cup and.....A SHEWEE....for those unaware I shall explain what a shewee is....golly this is hard....its like a plastic male area for weeing....so us women dont have to squate down and all that annoying shizzle....so we decided to try it out, which was a very amusing experience but the best bit was that after Meg had tried it out I went o use the loo like a normal lady and when I walked into the bathroom....she had left the loo seat up...i was less than impressed!!
SO yeah, thats that! now we are awaitng our flight info anf No money No honey phoned to say he is coming into school....better get my face on for my one true love!!
INDIA here we comeeee....
