NEW YEARS EVE BABY.....a lovely lie in to prepare for the night that awaits!! Or not....7am our phone rings! Random, we only just got it! Got back to sleep and had a good nap till 10!! Perfect! However, when I (Rose) awoke my eyes, especially the right, was glued together....nice bit of conjunctivitus....a beautiful look for the New Year! Meg went to the hotel man to ask if we can stay a few days more....but no, he needs the room so we have to leave. Cannot believe we got kicked out of a hostel. GREAT, so new years eve in the middle of a festival, where are we going to find a place to stay.....the next hotel down the road, sweeeet!! It is quite expensive, being 500rs (5pounds) a night, but it has a tv and HOT water!
In the room when the phone rings AGAIN....turns out to be Biken, wondering what we were up to. He has decided to stay tonight, so we will be partaying it up big style with him and his mates! Headed to breakie, to a resaurent with WIFI....called 'once apon a time'....a beautiful breakfast of eggs, toast, garlic spinage, potatoe and GARLIC MAYO...the best mayo everrrr, it made the whole meal. I think we shall be at the place everyday for breakfast!!
Had a walk to the lake, it was a bit cloudy though, but still looked beauty beauty beauty!! Back to the hotel where we watch TV, hello films...we watched, Big Daddy, Hotel for Dogs and Friends....loverly juberly!! In the middle of a film, we hear the most parculiar sound....a sound that we new VERY well but couldn't quite remember what it was exactly, then Megs jumps up and say....'OH MY GOD IT'S RAINING!!!'....we litterally ran outside, and indeed there is rain drops falling from the sky, what a beautiful sight!
Got a third phone call from Biken...he wants to meet up, but its only 3.40pm...come on now Biken, we dont want to peek too early!! So we will meet him at 7ish for a drink.....or a few!!
Met the main man Biken for drinks at his mates Hotel, which is very very smart, and cost $50 a night, wooie thats expensive!! He got us lots of BBQ chicken and pork, which was yum yum yummy....and of course LOTS of......beer!!! Met his hotel man....very convienient as we were officially paired off again!!
Watched a traditional dance, which was average, but honestly didnt reallyw atch it as....rum and coke were introduced to the equasion!! Enough of this beer milarky, get the rum in!! Meg got a phonecall from her mummy, so had a quick chat, as she was headed to to see my mummy and daddy for new years! After a few rums to get us going we were asked what we wanted for supper....pizza!!
Hit up the pizza place, which consisted of Pizza (obviously) and rum....great combo!! We were in our pairs of course, with our given man! And at one point Meg was called off to the side by her man, who said to her, 'I have booked the penthouse suite for tonight....if you are interested??'.....Meg said thanks....but no thanks!! He was gutted, but the night carried on despite this major rejection!
So us two and the men, 3 men in total now, we headed to a hindu night club....and yes we did dance!! We have got the knack of dancing Nepalese style now, especially Meg, she has it down! I however slip into my english style of moves, which gets me some right funky looks! One downfall is that I think Meg has now forgotten completely how to dance 'normally'....I think her natural style is Nepalese, so england be prepared for some sweet new moves!!.....and of course, lets not forget, there was RUM!!
It was 11.30pm and we decided that actually we didnt want to be in a hindu night club on the new years, so we said to the boys we were headed to Busy Bee's, the tourist place!! So we agreed to meet them later. FREE.....we got to the jam packed bar, and bought some vodka and coke, then headed to the dance floor! Where we met some lovely Dutch boys....so together we celebrated the New Years...twice!! As in Nepal everything is a little late, so after celebrating the actual time....the band on the stage started the count down at 10mins past midnight!! That how we role in Nepal!!
There was a serious mosh pit on the dance floor, and Meg, I hate to mention it because she gets very emotional....well, someone stole her fleece which was wrapped around her shoulders!! But lets not mention this again.....she might cry!! But during the 'incedent' we were very squashed and a few men decided to use this as an opportunity to have a quick feel, quite a horrid experience, which led to Meg punching 2 people!! Then our nice Dutch boys pulled us out to safety! Phew.....then rocked to a bit of Rage Against The Machine!!
After the dance went for a beer, on the bar Meg found a motorbike helmet and after deciding that, as someone stole her fleece she was to now steal the nike helmet....really Meg a helmet?!?!? So she piked it off the counter and took it to our seats....where we had a good old chat with the dutch boys! Got a phone call from the crew at One Stonehenge, which was lovely....we appoligise for the fact we were a little intoxicated, but it was a lovely surprise! Very stange though, as we in Nepal were in 2011 and them back in England were still in 2010.....thats so last year!!
Biken and Dina our mates, phoned asking where we were, as they were missing us....how sweet! So met them, got another beer, had a chin wag with all the boys, as the Nepali friends and Dutch friends were all united! Great times! The bar shut, so we departed....with the bike helmet, oh and a stunning zip up jumper Megs found, another steal! Stroled down the street with Biken and Dina, they bougt us some Lays (like walkers crisp) and....a beer!! After which was our calling to go to bed....headed to the hostel, where meg used her head (which had helmet on) to bang on the front door, whilst I had a lovely cuddle with a man on a bike!! The head banging worked, with the use of 'Doka khola'....meaning 'open the door' in Nepali!!
Oh forgot to say, there was a fight in Busy Bee's, a man was pulled of stage and a fight broke out....and I got kicked very hard in the leg...achillies area! VERY painful.
So I think that was how we spent our New years....very very different to usual, but what a cracker it was!! Enjoyed it thoroughly!! Especially the walk home at the end of the evening....cause I was so snuggled up in my FLEECE, Meg was too....oh no sorry Meg, forgot you lost it! My bad...
Meeeeeeg, onto you sister!!
