So second day of school...I love my class...grade 5. They speak such amazing english...its slightly embarrassing as we are struggling to remember their names! In my class we are studying James and the Giant Peach. I wonder if Roald Dahl ever imagined that his works would be studies in Nepalese schools. Yesterday i had to mark some of the childrens work and today i had to create a vocabulary list, i am slightly concerned that this is building up to teaching the class...all very good though!
The children love blood and gore. The main conversations in circle time yesterday were about road accidents they had seen, a murder one child had seen, a dead dog, a helicopter crash, and major burns from throwing fireworks during the Divali festival...fun times!
Back to today...day two...Three FANTASTIC things happened...Firstly, a CHEESE sandwich for breakfast...proper cheese too! Secondly our water is fixed, and thirdly we had milk tea and it tasted so good (although we think it might have been coffe!) With the water came a flood due to leaving the shower on when the water stopped working a couple of days ago...thank goodness we got there when we did as alot of our carpet was covered...Rose ran to the rescue with the saucepans while she made me get her hair out of the plug hole...!
Rose says that we need to mention Sam who we find is actually called Shyam and i completely agree...he is the lovliest person...today he made us critisize the school as much as we possibly could...the only thing that we could really think of is the loudness in the classrooms...it is very loud. Chatted to the other english volunteers a whopping twice today so i think that we can call them friends...they think that we are mental...
School Photo tomorrow...what to wear!?! At least we can shower before it!
Oh and in case you were worried. the dog still hasn't got us yet!
