GUY FAWKE's night in England! But for us an 8am wake up call some seriously lound bangin' Nepalese beats to welcome the beginning of 'Diwali Festival' the Festival of Light...people light up their houses with Christmas styley lights to welcome the Godess of Wealth to their home...we will have some of that please! Had a boogie on the roof terrace but then it all got a little tiresome as a man found it extremely amusing to repetitively shout "Hello....hello check" into the microphone!
Breakfast on the balcony, good and english, fried egg sandwich for me and fried bread and egg for Rose...packed up bits and bobs to spend a night away in...PATAN where one of the three Durbar Squares is situated....found a taxi that cost 200 rupees, just under 2 pounds...slightly expensive...the taxi drove through a seriously mental street full full full like a small street in London with Nepalese people...no jokes, on our journey we didn't see one white person...rather scary! Finally arrived and mooched around the square...unbeknown to us illegally as we didn't purchase a ticket...met an english family that gave us those...budget and all! Had a beer me a 'Tuborg' and Rose an "Everest'...both very good! The "Everest beer" is dedicated to a man who has climber Everest 12 times!!!
Hostels far too expensive we decided to come home...rather amusing/scary taxi ride whereby we got lost in our hometown...its rather bigger than just the main road that we thought! Finally after asking a few people the taxi driver found his way and we returned to "Ullens"!
The bangin' tunes STILL happening we decided to join in the festivities and headed for the Youth Centre opposite our Penthouse to see what was happening....the Nepalese welcomed us with open arms and offered us seats...so kind. Some children pulled up their chairs and spoke to us in perfect english...AMAZING! And then Rose flashed her camera and off they ran into the crowd with it to take some photo's...a slightly tense moment! But it returned and we offered the girls a photo shoot!
Off back to the Penthouse, supper....MORE instant noodles...not the most appetising, but budget! Some Himalayan vino and yep a whopping 5 power cuts....not sure the Godess of wealth will be visiting this are after all!!
Back to Rosalie....
