Have a great day.
So From last Saturday...the day that we were meant to be having a hot date with the security man (but was cancelled as his wife just had a baby!...fair do's) We decided that we would infact do something for the first time on saturday....lets be tourists! Our least favourite thing is being tourists....we are NOT, we live here....its just like visiting london tower!
So head of to a place called Swyambu and these three sitting buddas, all in the same place....it was super cool. We managed to get the bus the whole way, so we are very proud of us. Our whole time here we have been looking out for this Swyambu place, cause its on a hill, we have never seen it though....however when we turned up at the place, we discovered we had infact driven past a few times....how we didnt see it I am not quite sure, becuase it is on top of a mahoosive hill...silly us! So it cost us 200RS...outragous, but we did it anyway. It was definitely worth it. It was all pretty groovey, especially all the MONKEYS! There were monkeys everywhere, all over the place, it was crazy crazy.
Afterwards we walked down the street and purchased some, monkey nuts...not sure of the actual names but thats what Meg calls them. So we were going to eat them on the bus like the locals (who actually eat them them spit the shells onto the floor)....we kept out shells in a bag but the bus was too rocky, so we waited till be got home to finish them.....still true Brits at heart, no littering at all!
So got back after a long day and relaxed infront of the telly, we were both pretty tired and we ahve WORK tomorrow....I know Sunday! Rubbish. So woke for work...in time for breakie of course....found out we had a full packed day. Morning meeting, lunch and afternoon meeting!
Morning session was with the volunteers (not us, we are not profesional enough) and Barba (helped to set up Ullens and was head at a school in nepal...she the real deal)....it was all about asking the correct types of questions to the children. Was a good session, we are learning lots....I didnt have a very good table thogh (me and meg were spilt up as soon as we entered the room) Meg had a much better team, wich included THE headmaster.....but we both said there was one downfall.....when our tables t5alked in Nepali....couldn't quite understand the convo!!
Then the second was a staff meeting....went on for far too long and things are talked about for WAY to long....everything is done in Nepali time. The start was all in nepali as it is Nepali week....we heard the word 'volunteer' and everyone stared at us....found out we are expected to join in on the whole, only speaking nepali out of class....this si going to be a chalange! Then half an hour spent on who is going to be on the commitee for assemberlys....the headmasters said, 'so who wants to be in the comitee?'....silence....meg wanted to just jump up and shout, JUST PICK THEM YOURSELF AND GET THIS OVER WITH!!.....also throughout the whole meeting meg was trying to make me get the giggles, so nealry worked, but I managed to hold it together....this is now the task every meeting!!
monday we went to the post box to see if we had any parcels.....we did indeed my friends....one from Miss Chick herself, which was a parcel for Miss Megan, for her birthday....so thank you from Meg. How very very kind....chick I dont know if you write a different address than others but your parcels are super quick at arriving!!
Tuesday.....4.30 am, yes that is correct, 4.30 AM...AM.....AM......some lovely person decided they would put their radio on to the highest volume possible....this made meg really quite annoyed and she stomped around the room trying to figure out who the hell it was! I managed to sleep a while through the 1 hour session of radio Kumaltar....fabulous stuff I tell you, they even included the Nepalese National Anthem.....we know the tune very well now! Classic times....great start to the day.
Aside from that....oh yeah, me and megin our classrooms have each made 'word walls'...both have spent ages doing it....and both of ours has fallen off the wall....mine however was found scrumpled up inot a ball ontop of the cuboard....I nearly wept on the floor. So today I sat on the floor up picking the words from the ripped paper, and sticking fresh green paper to the wall....and as selotape didnt work last time, and we are SUPER annoyed it fell off....we have indeed super glued it to the wall, lets face it, I wont be here when they find out so I glued away!! That will do it.
Oh yeah...after the post office we found an illegal dvd place on the side of the road, managed to pick up 3 dvds for 80p...the films are 'The Kings Speech', '127 Hours' and 'The Kids are Alright'.....come on my son....we are watching one tonight so will let you all know what the quality is like, then I guess...place your orders!!
Thats all for now....maggi....
