So 28th December...wow this seems a while ago!! Anyhow...After another party night, yet again we were feeling pretty worse for wear, but we were up and about in breakfast at 7am as we were so worried about being late...again! We were in fact the first! I must just add, that since we have been in Chitwan, so 21/2 days between us we have done 14 poo poo's...what has happened to us!!
Thinking that we were again being treated like royalty, we got into our personal jeep and headed to the elephants for a trek...no we were wrong...not today! On piled other tourists from other hotels, and you would not have believed how many elephants there were all with tourists riding on them it was horrid! Quite amazing how few white tourists though, all mainly Nepali tourists....All in all, i wouldn't rate this elephant trek nearly as much as the one before, however, we did get to see one big rhino and its baby which was SO exciting....but it was quite shocking to see just how excited the Nepali's were about seeing wild deer!
We did feel a bit deserted by Sunit today...i REALLY didn't mind, as it was so nice to have some freedom...Rose was slightly more upset! So we had lunch on our lonesome in the hotel, and then headed (walking, AND on our own) i know walking to the elephant races! However, on the way one of the tourist jeeps drove past and picked us up...we got to hang onto the back...our dream!! We loved it! elephnat races....FINALS DAY! We arrived just in time to see loads and loads of crowds all awaiting the beginning of the football match...Rose like a true fan got her elbows out and of course flashed the 'Organizer' badge that 'the drunk monk' gave her last night, and pulled us through onto the front row...the left corner of the pitch...classic stamede gound, but also the perfect view of the pitch...GOOD JOB ROSE!!! On one occasion it did feel like we got stampeded and i tell you what, the Nepali's moved out of the way pretty freaking quickly! The elephant was however just running up a little bit too excitedly to take its corner...we can say though that we have never been that close to an elephants bottom...yes it was very scary!
Yellows did win, a very sorry tale indeed for the Green team, and Biken came up to us at the end to congratulate Rose....it was very upsetting indeed! Back to the hotel...walking! Where we met Sunit who had ordered a proper Indian styley 'Butter curry', he let us share some, and i tell you what it was GOOOOOD!!! Defo the best that we have tasted...bring on India! Sunit sent us off to see the sunset on our own, so we ordered a beer and took some EPIC photos! We are really getting into the photography i tell you...if only we had an amazing camera! Of course, yet again we met the media men, and had a quick 'hello'....
Back to hotel...no signs of Sunit, so we watched a bit of TV...phoned Sunit who then informed us that he had been out looking for us at the sunset...ooooops! Both super duper tired, so not a late one, but Sunit said he will have supper with us....so sat by the fire until 10pm....a stomach full of beer...and no food, Rose had major stomach cramps, and then we went into eat...radish soup, a weird and wonderful experience, and then chicken, rice and veg...more beer and then some stories of the scariest things that we have ever done...wow theirs were amazing...Sharod told us about the time that it flooded in monsoon and they had to ride into the hotel on an elephant!!! Anyhow off to bed....a good chill out day tomorrow...can't wait!
