Pokhara Pokhara Pokhara...here we come!!! Awoke after another jolly chilly night nice and early for our last free feat before...the budget...! Lovely jubbly...man we will miss masala tea...a concoction of normal milk tea with ginger and of course cinnamon...kind of tastes like rice pudding tea! Its so good!
Met Sunit, who gave us both a T-Shirt...what the elephant football players wore...in green! Of course for the GREEN TEAM! He also gave us a 'press' and 'organizer' badge each...we really did feel special! After a good old chin wag, Sunit agreed that he should drop the price to just 4000 rupees, so just under 40 pounds!!!! We felt SO lucky! Said some emotional goodbyes, and then got our last jeep ride to our bus...a VERY funky bus, all brightly painted...me and Rose were split up which was slightly emotional, but we managed! Last night, we agreed to race Biken and his friends who were being driven by his driver...they definitely won...arriving approx 1 - 1 1/2 hours in front of us!
Arrived at a super nice hostel that had wifi, a roof terrace, and our room had two chairs in also...500 per night, a little over budget, but with wifi it was a bonus! Caught up on the internet and informed our concerned parents who hadn't heard from us for 5 days that we were alive and well...Off out into the New Year Street Festival that was being held in Pokhara and got some food...butter chicken curry...our new fav! Weirdly, we saw Dinah (the guy with the amazing laugh that sounds like the wicked witch of the west!) who invited us out for drinks with him and Biken...we headed to an Asian food place to call them, and they headed over and of course...got the beers in!! We informed Biken that we were having trouble buying a sim card as you need your passport and photos and everything...so he clicked his fingers, got the waiter over and sent him off to buy us a sim card under Bikens name!! We wer gobsmacked...as we were only asking for help, not for him to buy it for us, and he wouldn't let us pay him back! Rose and Dina had a great chuckle as apparently Biken had talked about me for the whole of the car journey and is quite in love with me...great!
Anyhow, learnt a good bit of Nepali...and had a right giggle....especially when i began to itch my mozzie bite...i asked rose...'do you have an itchy mozzie' to which she replied ' i haven't been bitten today'....everyone stopped...and Dina just hysterically started laughing....In Nepal 'mozzie' doesn't mean a mosquito....mozzie is the 'C' word of Nepal...so when i aked Rose 'did she have an itchy mozzie' they got quite a different meaning!!! very FUNNY!
Biken then began singing love songs...very lovely and Dina translated....something about loving the blink of my eyes, and wanting to follow me wherever i may go....FREAKIN WEIRD! Rose and Dina loved it! Bikens phone rung, and me and Rose had a lovely chat, and then Rose decided we needed to teach Biken some english....out of all of the words she could have chosen, she cose...'poop a scooped'....mannnn it was hilarious...we now spell it 'pop a scopped' as thats how it rolls off of the tongue here...oh my goodness, it was funny...he didn't get the hang of it for a long while, but once he got it, he got it! If you have seen the film 'analyze this' you will understand how Biken says our names when he talks to us....'Meeeeeeeg' Roooooose' oh he is so funny! We want you all to meet him...!
Onto 'Busy Bee's a kind of tourists bar...for yes more beers, where we had a great chat, and then headed onwards to bed...BRING ON NEW YEARS EVE!!!!
