Day 4 in the Parkland hotel....we were awoke with a 'KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK' at 8.30am....'please, I need to speak to you'. Meg jumped out of bed and put some trousers on, then slowely opened the door....it was one of the guides, who told us we needed to get out of bed as our bus was leaving in half an hour....ummm we aren't leaving today!! Yesterday we decided to stay an extra night, cause we just love Chitwan, but no one informed the guides...oops!!
So as we were now fully awake, we decided to shower...Meg went first, as she has been dreaming of a bath for about 2 months now!! She sat on the loo whilst waiting for the water to get hot (it is run on gas)...then came out complaining of the smell....I thought, golly must be a stinker if she is saying its smelly! But she advanced in anyway to have a lovely shower.....BOOM, not joking the whole room shook and I saw a flash of yellow light come out of the bath room! Maggie emerges saying, 'Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow'.....HOLY POO PANTS the freaking shower just exploded.... I was expecting Meg to come out with no eyebrows and a blackened face....thank goodness she was unharmed. Turned out the hole box in the shower, connected to the GAS had been alight!! I walked into the bathroom, to discover that it did indeed stink...OF GAS!! Was a plonker she is, can't belive she left the water on for so long, with that kind of smell coming out! The room now stinks....so we left windows open and headed to breakie!!
Got back, still smells, but managed to shower by saying when the flame was on to make the water hot, and when it went off...meaning gas flow into our lungs!! It was a looong process, but we are now cleansed!
Met up with the boys for a bit of luncheon....traditional Nepalese style, delicious! Had a little sunbathe in the afternoon, reading our books and listening to music.....delightful. Then we were told we were going to see the Elephant breeding center....and we were to cycle....this was our directions given, 'got to where the elephant races where, then just go straight for a while, till you reach the river, cross the bridge then head to the huts, about a 5min walk....and watch out for the rhinos'.....great!!
But I tell you what....the cycle ride was the best bit of the whole day, we felt like we were in 'Eat, pray, love'....it was beautiful. The ride was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G....elephant breeding center, not so good. We just felt a bit sorry for the elephantese, all chained up, just not the nicest....but then the ride back....wow oh wow! LOVED IT! Our bottoms will be saw tomorrow though, as its been a while since we rode a bike! It will be worth it though...
Delivered the bikes back, then headed to the bar's by the river to watch the sunset....STUNNING, STUNNING, STUNNING! Best sunset I have ever seen, it went down all the better with a lovely cold glass of Everest beer. Yum. Then a double bonus, Harry the guide joined us, and he is lovely, so friendly, so had a good old chat, he appolagiesed for waking us up! He told us that apparently Chitwan is the ONLY place that does Elephant Football...wow, we are lucky!
Suppered alone, as Sunit had cousins over!! We have been ditched...sad times! Then after sat around the camp fire, where we met a LOVELY family, the dad is the assistent football coach for Dohar or somewhere, was the assistent coach for Holland but they have moved to this Dohar place! Tried to find him on google to impress you all but couldnt find him....so if anyone knows, please do tell! So they were lovely, they had been round to an orphage and after takeing all the kids out for supper they bought each child a winter coat, the girls shoes and the boys footballs....what nice people.
About to go watch a film, when along came BIKEN and another man who works in the hotel....we had a cracker of a night with them. Got the beers in of course....and they even sang for us, loads of singing, which meant LOADS of dancing round the fire! Of course, we were paired off again, Meg with her man Biken, me with the singer guy! Oh how we did chuckle....tried showing them Urian's belt (the stars) but just turned into an excuse to put their arms round me, so no more of that! 'Brother from another mother' got another round of laughs, why I have no idea, but they just looove it! We also met a man called Dina, who has the funniest laugh, when he laughs, we laugh! When he asked me my name and I said 'Rose', him and the singer dude said, 'oh yes, they are beautiful, but they have those very sharp things....nipple things'....furthermore came....'a rose between two nipples'....oh how we laughed and laughed! This is officially the new version of the 'thorn' quote....please may we all make a big effort to start this!!
Turns out that our mate Biken and the laughing man are headed to Pokhara tomorrow....same as us!! And they shall be there till New Year.....looks like we will be hanging out with them for the next few days!! So after a cracker of a night....a great way to end our stay in the beauty of Chitwan, we headed to bed! Lets make sure we are awake for the nus tomorrow morning, so poor Harry doesnt have to wake us up again!!
Maggie, over to you........
