Sunday awoke for the work days ahead!! No breakfast as lunch is soooo early at 11.00am....error on our behalf! We had to attend a PD meeting with all the staff, started at 10am then followed by a staff meeting...oh no!
So PD finally finished at 11.30...foloowed by staff meeting. I am now going to officially quote the vice principle...'Okay everyone, if we just have a really quick staff meeting beofre lunch, only 5-10 minutes'......12.15 my stomach was imploding with pain for food and I am sure the whole room could hear the noice coming from our tummy, it was like there was a thunderstorm in the room!
Finally got out to eat lunch, and og boy we ate it big time...it was gooood. Nothing in the afternoon to do, so we headed upstairs to the penthouse for a little nap and tanning...not too much tanning though because we dont want to come out all red for the wedding! Talking of which we got dressed and made our faces beautiful for the coming event then headed down to catch the school bus.
The weddings in nepal and MASSIVE....they have the ceromony (we werent invited to this, only close friends) then in the evening or afternoon theers a party, one day ALL the gromes friends will attend then the next day the brides friends will attend....the two friends never meet, weird! But it means that anyone who they know will be invited....literlly....because Sagar (the man whos wedding it was) invited ALL the staff...inclueding us, and to be honest I think the most we have ever said is 'hello, nice weekend?'. But meant we got to attend. ALSO....the next day we found out that it was an arranged marriage. So the first time they ever met was at their engagement party....3 months later and they were married. Couldnt ever imagine it!
Sadly due to his religion there was infact no alcohol to be seen in the room, most dissapointed. Which I think was clear as a lot of the staff comented about it the next day to us, saying it must have been annoying for us cause there was no BOOOZE!! However lets not complain too much as for one thing there was a hell of a lot of....SNACKS AND FOOD....chips, veggy thing, peanuts in chilli, then suppper itself (buffet style) and pudding (no cake though). So we stayed for a good few hours....eating, eating and more eating. Officially we were the last to stay, come on you at home are proud!!
Throughout the WHOLE party the bride and groom sit on a platform and all the guests have to go and say hello wqhen the come in and leave....its so they get to meet the bride or groom and have a good stare! So they sat from 3.30 till everyone had left, THEN they get down to eat. We were told that by the end of the 3 day wedding the couple is always super tired, so has to take a few days of work to recover....thats the honeymoon!!
So got home at 6.30 and watched a film...perfect!
The rest of the week has been not very interesting. There have been MAHOOSIVE thunderstorms in the morning for the last 2 mornings, and it officially rained all day today, just like home! But this means the end of winter and from now it only gets hotter. But it has been crazy, the first morning our whole room was a rockin and a shakin!! Crazy times.
Been helping out with Grade 2 play...not looking too good at the moment, all very hectic, os fingers crossed for that. First performance is tomorrow morning....dress rehgersal this afternoon did not go so smoothly!!
Played B-ball with the security gaurds the other day and the matinence man, who was pretty good so we know call him 'michael jorden' CLASSIC. And some GREAT news....we have been invited for lunch with the security men on saturday at 11....woop woop de la woop. Lets get the rice in! They have been teaching us to march Nepali Army style...its crazy! We know salute the main guy whenever we see him....its true love!
VALINTINES DAY....its officially bigger than chrimbo over here, everyone wishes it to you...but sadly we had no invites or cards. The paper had a double page stread of love notes from people....favourite one by far.....'My love is like diarrehoea, it just wont hold'....thats true love. LOVE IT. SO had the eveing in together, how sweet...going to watch a film, but oh no oh no...we're in Nepal....there was no power! So bed by 7.30 lights out by 9! Best valentines ay ever!
Went ot see Shaym Sir today about Ma and Pa coming to stay (3 DAYS, SO EXCITED), he said he would see if someone could drive us, but its a saturday everyones one day off...but he said he would check! Thought this was a simple enough question....We had to wait for the head driver to come, he took 40 mins....so had a lovely long chat with Shaym. We talked about everything! He was MOST shocked we didnt have boyfriends and therefore why no one had invited us out on valentines day....we decided it was because men are more conservative here, not like em english boys at home. So at the end of the meeting he said he would take us out for drinks...what a sweetie! I told him I owuld love to stay longer, so he suggested I get a man....okay then!! But seeing as no man here really talks to us, might be a bit hard! So that was a grande meeting....and as always there was no really answer to the 40 minute awaited question....he said he would get back to me and let me know! That a Nepalese answer for you!
Thats all I can think of for now...Meg Weggy Woo Woo (valentines name).....
