So today the 3rd January....wow what a day that was!!
We awoke pretty early to get ready and see if the tummies (well Roses!) were feeling up to paragliding....i looked out of the window and was extremely amused at the incredible amount of mist that was covering everything....very funny considering that they weather yesterday was beautiful....!!!
We checked out of the hostel and only paid for two nights stay rather than three due to the noise on our second night...bonus! However, we were chased down the road by a man who realised that we had paid too little....he was helmetless, so its just as well that we left the motorbike helmet (that Rose borrowed on New Years Eve) in the hostel for him!
Rose not feeling top notch, we had a milk coffee and some peanut biscuits for breakfast...Rose can't even talk about these now, let alone eat them ever again! We tried to rebook paragliding for another day due to the weather, but we assured by the man that the visibility would clear up! Got onto a bus, and then drove up (VERY HIGH!) to Sarankot where we were due to fly....a highlight has got to be seeing how this chinese woman was dressed for paragling! She looked like she was about to go down the cat walk....she had these super high patent leather boots on...seeing her go off of the cliff, not only made us laugh, it also made us determined not to make a scene! She sort of stopped running and refused to be taken off of the ground, but of course once a kite gets air, there is no going back, so off she flew! I can openly admit that i was terrified, Rose of course being the man in our travelling partnership had no fear....(she looked a little scared to me!) We were given the low down on our take off....just run!!! Don't stop until you are in the air....!!! Feeling confident i went first, and REALLY let the side down!! I just stopped running just like the chinese woman and even tried to turn around! How embarrassing....Rose did a beauty take off running all of the way! I was with a beautiful Austrian and Rose was with a Nepalese man.....who casually kissed her on the cheek mid flight...how romantic....or freaking weird!!! Jolly cold in the air, but so so beautiful, just amazing, we felt like birds!!! Both of us did some acrobatics also, and it was incredible!!! Rose landed first, and then me....she looked white as a sheet, and was feeling really quite faint, so we hurried back to the bus and brought some chocolate....definitely the best cure for a sickness bug!!!
They gave us the photos and a film for free, as we are volunteers, so kind! The best thing though, as we were driving along we saw DANNY!!!! Oh we do love him! We didn't stop to talk, and i am pretty sure that he didn't see us, but its pretty cool recognizing people that we know in Pokhara!
At 3pm whilst we were eating lunch in our favourite restaurant, we had a phone call on our super cool new phone....it was the trekking company to say that we were late, so off we went in a car off to 20 minutes away from Sarankot....we trekked up ALOT of stairs for 45 minutes nice and slowly as Rose was feeling rather faint, arrived at 5ish....we were the only guests in the hotel, and it was freaking freezing, so we headed out to watch the sunset! WOW...what a sight, just amazing, so beautiful overlooking the Annapurna mountain range...we went back for supper and had a huge feast of chowmein (chicken), chicken soup and momo's....considering Rose was pretty sure that it was the chicken that had given her food poisoning, this didn't go down so well....!!!
In bed at 6.30pm chatted until 8.30 (yes we can talk for England) and hoping for Rose to feel better for tomorrow....
