Hello all, sorry for no post yesterday we had a rather busy day! I was in classes all day (well until 2pm) as the teacher had me marking all of the childrens work...a rather difficult task when alot of the sentences that they write make absolutely no sense...are we meant to correct it, or just write 'wrong' next to it??!! Its not so much their sentence writing that is wrong its their understanding of words...for example one of them wrote "my table is flabby'!! It doesn't help that the teacher gives them the wrong meanings sometimes. My teacher explained the word 'saucy' to the class, in the context of 'the ladybird didn't like the other ladybirds because they were too saucy'. The teacher explained that we all love sauce like tomato ketchup etc and the ladybird therefore didn't like to other ladybirds because they were too "nice!'...all rather confusing! Spelling tests are the worst i think we would both agree as the teachers struggle to pronounce the words properly and as a result the children aren't really sure what they are meant to be spelling!
School all over we went to see Mickey...(a nickname Rose made up) IT man who we now know is called 'Bikash'...We love to talk to him gangsta style and he always laughs along with no idea what we are going on about but we love him! We now call him 'Big ass'...! We had just been to the shops to buy some vino and some bread which 'Big ass' loved to look through! He had a piece of bread and then we approached the subject of skype...he is on it...hopefully we will have it by Monday! He also gave us some speakers for our room...they don't work but its the thought! We love him!!!
4pm snacks...the best coffee ever...and then into school bus with Colin and Suzanne...we got off with Suzanne to go and pick up her sari's for work...we then got on....A BUS! A public bus with all of the locals...very exciting! Rose properly got down with them at the front up close and personal! 10 rupees each...8 pence! Crazy! Arrived at S and C's...a beauty beauty house...had some beers and Me and Rose chatted for England to say the least...awkward silences are awkward...so we just chatted and chatted....we had soup and then roast chicken and potatoes and then for dessert the best salad ever! Dressed in a garlic oil it was amazing! We left at 8ish and began to walk, but due to the teachers at school advising us to wear knuckle dusters at night (i'm sure that they were joking) and not carry any money, we looked for taxi's...none. So we found a bus!! Told the guy where we wanted to go and he had no idea what we were saying...but then a taxi came! Both a little tipsy we made a wee bit of convo with the taxi man who thank my buddha knew where Ullens school was and then home James home...a lovely evening...slightly embarrassing how much we talked....i forgot to mention the cook there who was literally a servant...i have never been waited on like we were last night...so nice but so weird!
Sleeping at night is beginning to be a bit of a hard task at night due to the 101 dalmations that have moved into our area...seriously the amount of barking at night is pretty incredible when you think that pretty much all of it is from stray dogs...it is SO loud! There is one at the moment who we think must be a very heavy smoker as its bark is so coarse...and so much deeper than all of the others!
Today we have done literally nothing...both a little drained from our first week and have just slept and read our books...both onto book 4! Mental! Rose a little under the weather with maybe a cold developing...the best supper...good old english beans on toast! Think we are ready to go back onto the Nepalese food now! Staff picnic tomorrow where we all drive 2 -3 hours and there is dancing....something we are both VERY excited by, and drinking, and food, and activities...can't wait!!! There is also an overnight school trip for years 4 and 5 next weekend that we might be allowed to go on! We will have to wait and see...they all go into China, but we would have to wait by the border as we don't have visa's all pretty exciting though!
Its a long'un sorry all! Back to you Rosalie...
