Tonight I found myself in the beautiful little town of Tewkesbury to see Gyles Brandreth at the lovely little Roses Theatre. Hearing Brandreth as a regular on Just A Minute, it is obvious he has a love of language and is very erudite. Tonight was a showcase of his passion for the English Language as he explored the power of words. A generous splattering of humour made for a fascinating and entertaining evening.

Tonight four of us, including my brother and our mother, took advantage of a lastminute.com offer which combined a meal and trip to a West End show for just £24 each. Then I wandered over to the Town Hall for the All-Star Stand-Up Tour, starring Jarred Christmas, Gary Delaney, Sean Hughes and Pete Firmin. This weekend was my first time in Manchester. A friend and I were here to see Muse, along with a couple of his friends who handily live in Sale and we're therefore able to accommodate us. A smooth drive up saw us arrive just past midday, so we hopped onto a tram and made our way into the city centre as my companion offered a guided tour. Five years ago my friend, who's a big A-ha fan, sadly had to miss their farewell tour due to a family illness.
