As the sun was shining today, on my way to the arena for the tennis I decided to take a trip across The Thames using the Emirates Airline, aka cable car. The return fare was £10.80 and I disembarked on the north bank to take a few photos before heading back. The views of this part of London were lovely.
Then I made my way to the O2 where I popped into Frankie and Benny's for their Papa Grande breakfast consisting of a couple of sausages, three bacon, black pudding, beans, hash browns and fried potatoes.
The tennis commenced with a doubles as America's Bob and Mike Bryan took on the alternate pairing of Austria's Oliver Marach and Croatia's Mate Pavic. The Bryan's needed a win to give themselves a chance of qualifying for the semifinals, but lost 6-4 6-4.
Next on the agenda, Belgium's David Goffin faced Austria's Dominic Thiem. I think the inexperienced 20 year old Thiem allowed the occasion to get to him as he couldn't find his best tennis and Goffin triumphed 6-4, 6-1.
After another between sessions trip to Tesco for a meal deal, I was back in the arena to watch our own Jamie Murray and his Brazilian partner Bruno Soares take on the number one seeds; Poland's Lukas Kubot and Brazil's Marcelo Melo. Murray and Soares needed to win to qualify while their opponents were already through but would top the group if they won. Much to the delight of the home crowd, Murray and Soares prevailed 6-2, 6-4 to top the group.
Finally, Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov faced Spain's Pablo Correno-Busta. Dimitrov has been in fantastic form this week and made short work of this match as he won 6-1, 6-1. He's my favourite to win on Sunday.
