After a late finish last night I had a lazy morning before heading back to the Emirates for today's tennis action.
The doubles match saw Great Britain's Jamie Murray and Dominic Inglot take on the Uzbek pair of Denis Istomin and Sanjar Fayziev. With the tie delicately balanced at 1-1, the doubles will again prove crucial.
Dom served first and had a fairly easy hold. Istomin followed and also held easily. Then Jamie was broken after some excellent returning by the Uzbeks. Despite holding a break point in the next game there was no immediate break back from the Brits. Games continued to go with serve until Istomin served out the set to love.
It was looking ominous at the start of the second set as the Brits immediately faced two break points, but brilliant serving from Dom saved the day. The're were break changes in each of the following 3 games until Dom held to love in the 5th. The set inevitably ended in a tie break where the GB team had several set points, and the Uzbeks 1, before securing it 10-8.
The third set started well with the Brits breaking in the third game. They then achieved a second break in the 7th game before serving it out 6-2.
The fourth set went with serve until the 5th game when GB played an excellent game to break to love. By now the momentum was completely with the Brits as they won the fourth set and the match 4-6 7-6(8) 6-2 6-3, giving GB a 2-1 advantage going into the final day.
Once the Brits had levelled the match by winning the tight second set, they were totally in control.
After the tennis I stopped at the Blue Lagoon, Argyll Street, for a Haggis with chips, cheese and gravy. This was followed up with a Deep Fried Mars Bar and Ice Cream - yummy!
