Today was a day of sunshine and showers - in fact it was dry most of the day, but did have a tendency to rain when I was out! I left Skye via the bridge and headed to Eileen Donan Castle. You'll know this one as a snowy picture of it hangs in my dining room. I'm glad to say there was no snow but as I arrived at opening time it was raining - and there were already half a dozen coaches there! The heavy rain continued all night and was still hammering on the breakfast room (conservatory) ceiling in the morning, so much so that I felt like Henny Penny and that the Skye had fallen in! Nevertheless, I headed off into the maelstrom to Dunvegan (possibly named as they had rediscovered the joy of meat?). By the time we arrived, the rain had eased and was relatively light. It had rained all night, though thankfully it had stopped by the time a very sodden Minx and I left Arisaig for the 10 minute drive to Mallaig for the ferry to Armadale in Skye. It was very windy and the crossing was the chopiest of the three I've experienced this week, but nothing major or like the Staffa trip. Predictably, today was another day of fantastic roads, stunning scenery and lovely walks - plus the sun shone too. After brekkie, I left Park Lodge Hotel for the 0.3 mile drive to the ferry terminal to catch the ferry to Kilchoan on the Ardnamurchan Peninsular. The wind picked up even more overnight, but at least it dawned dry. However, the forecast was for heavy rain starting mid afternoon into the evening. The plan was to drive across the Isle of Mull to Tobermory, stopping off at various sites. The question was, which order? Because of the forecast, I decided it was important to get the waterfall done before the rain if possible. Leaving the B&B, the weather was good enough to put the roof down. I had no choice ...
