Last night was interesting - I was just about the only sober person in the entire camp, as everyone got wild for Lenny's last night. Even more people were having issues walking in a straight line, and passing out, than usual. It was pretty funny being sober and watching it all unfold, but it sucked that I didn't get to bed until nearly 2am.
I got up at 8:30am as usual and had breakfast etc. I was shocked and excited to see there were actually waves out front of the camp again for the first time in a month! All excited I ate my breakfast in record time, pulled my wetsuit on and ran to the sea, about 400m down the beach, eager to get in.. After 20 minutes I got back out and walked back up the beach, thoroughly disapoibted in the surf. The wind was howling cross shore and the waves were lumpy and fat as hell.
I got back in the water right out front of the camp, but swapped between using my own board and a foamie as the surf was pretty crap.
Despite the conditions I was in the water until lunch, when I got out and started my afternoon shift.
I had a very uneventful shift, as there were only 7(!!!) clients in the camp, so I just cruised around and played some pool to kill the time, once I had finished everything needing doing.
I finished my shift at 7pm as planned, and just used the evening to chill out. I emailed Mark and Fenella about the possibility of staying with them for a few days, before I start a fruit picking job.
I also had a lengthy email from Mum about home and me not going to Uni this year etc. She seems a bit upset at the moment as I will be away a long time, but is happy I can do some real travelling and have the chance to be 'free'.
I was asleep by about 9:30pm as I was so tired for the shift the night before..
