I had a really good sleep last night, and woke up about 6:30am this morning. It was still wet outside, but the rain had obviously passed over night. It was overcast but quite warm and no wind, so I went up to the lighthouse car park again and checked the surf.
It was tiny and the tide seemed a bit high, so I sat reading my book for a while to see if it would improve.
Later the tide had dropped a bit and there was a half rideable wave, despite it being only 1ft max. Having not been in the water for days I was keen to get out, so went for a paddle not expecting much.
I stayed in for an hour or so, but it really was absolutely tiny and barely rideable. As I say though I had been keen to get it, and it was good to go and get wet.
From there I went off to find a super market, as I am out of food again. On my way I was just driving down the road from the beach, and a guy (about 20-21 maybe) walks in the middle of the road and holds his hand up in the 'stop' sign, gripping a beer in the other. He proceeds to tell me he has done a fair number of E's, has had 10 beers and he has 2 crates left to drink. His 2 friends then join him, holding said beer, invite me to their drinking session. 'we don't have any chicks, but there is a stripper coming in a few hours'. After showing I wasn't particularly interested he insisted, and told me to give him my number so he could give me a call once I had bought my food. I gave him a fake number and drove off again, not quite able to get my head round what had just happened at about 11:30am!
I came across a Maccas, so dropped in as usual, then got to an Aldi. Having blitzed around Aldi I decided it was a good time to move on again to the next spot, going north (which is a bit strange), heading for 'Woonona'. It was only half an hour or so in the car though, so not far.
When I got to 'Woonona Beach' the sun had come out and it was a really nice day. Having not being able to just chill out in the sun and laze about doing nothing for a while, that's what decided to do after having some lunch. Behind the beach was a nice park area, so I got my book and headphones out and didn't do much until about 4pm. It was just starting to cool a little bit, so I went and did a bit of exploring, walking down the beach and round the reef point etc.
There was a tiny 1/2ft wave and a couple of guys out getting a few, so I thought why not go out for a paddle again. As expected it was pretty unsurfable, but nice to be in the ocean all the same.
When I got out it was dinner time, so I sorted out all the car and got the cooking kit out. For the 1st time in I can't remember how long I had something new for dinner - Ravioli, MENTAL!
I had just after finished eating when a guy pulled up next to me in a pop up camper van, so as you'd expect we got chatting away. He turned out to be a really nice bloke called Dave, and having offered me a beer we stayed up sitting around chatting about just about everything till about 10pm. It was really nice to have some good company again rather than just being by myself.
