Today I was due to work the night shift, so basically had the whole day to do what I please.
I got up at 6am to speak to the family on Skype which I really enjoyed, it was great to hear from home and what everyone is up to etc. I also made the final decision that I would defer my Uni place another year if possible, as I shan't be home for this year. It's strange to have the weight lifted off my shoulders, but really I think I made the decision in my head weeks ago..
I spoke to home for over an hour, but after I went and had breakfast etc as usual.
At 9am I joined my final 'work experience' lesson! Once again I went with Gary, who was great as he let me almost run it for half of the clients once in the water. The lesson was ok, but as it was a 1st lesson some struggled more than others.
One thing that surprised me though was despite the sun being out, I just couldn't get warm in the water, something I don't usually suffer from..
The lesson finished at 11am so after I just had a long warm shower to warm up and then sat in the sun chatting till lunch.
After lunch I walked to Mullaway with Lenny and Daveo, for Lenny's last surf as he leaves tomorrow. It was a really enjoyable session, 2ft with the odd 3ft set, nice and clean and breaking perfectly. I feel like if I was to start surfing faster and consistent point/reef breaks I could progress very quickly..
We got back at 4:30pm, so again I had a long hot shower to warm up, as the walk back is about 20-25 minutes and it gets cold as soon as the sun goes down.
When I got back I wrote up my final lesson to get signed off and updated my OffExploring blogs.
I am working the night shift and its Lenny's last night, so it's bound to end up as a very messy one, which means I will get to bed really late...perfect.
