What a strange day - in the morning I was part of the academy and surfing with everyone, by the evening I was helping round camp and washing their dishes..
I surfed on my 7am lesson at Mulawarra. When we got there the surf was crap, just like the day before a choppy 1-2ft. This time I stalled for an hour on the beach, watching the waves and talking to Linton instead of getting straight in.
When I did start surfing after about half an hour the surf just switched on as the tide dropped out - it suddenly became about 3ft with occasional 4ft sets. I had a really fun surf and surfed reasonably well, for the first time in about 3/4 days.
As kept happening recently, we got back to camp in time for a shower and lunch.
In the afternoon I washed nearly all the clothes I have with me, as virtually everything was in my washing pile! Other than that I just sat around chilling out in the sunshine and chatting to people.
At 4pm I started my first shift as a Grommie. I didn't really know what to expect, but it turns out its pretty easy. Although it was a training shift so I didn't have to do everything, all you really need to do is look after the fire and check on the clients. There is also a couple of crappy jobs like rinsing dishes, stacking the dishwasher and a bit of brushing. The worst thing about night shifts is that when you want to go to sleep as your tired, you have to stay up while any clients are up and about.
Anyway its 11:30pm now and I am up at 6am for tomorrows morning training shift, so time for some sleep.
