Last night was off the chaaain! We got the whole of Dan's tour group up on the balcony of his room to start pre-drinking...at 11pm. After polishing off a free crate of beer (some Aussies gave Dan?!) and some 'American Honey' whisky we went out to 'Woodys', which is a kind of surf shack style bar with a really laid back vibe and good music.
The madness began when Lenny wasn't allowed in for being 'too drunk', when it was actually blatantly obvious they just didn't want to let too many guys in..
After a couple of drinks etc in Woodys we went to the famous 'Cheeky Monkeys' night club, where the 'dance floor' is actually the table tops of big picnic style benches. It was really, really good fun as people on opposite tables have dance offs while others walk around with drinks in between. It may have just been the novelty factor, but everyone had a great night.
We eventually rolled into our Hostel about 4am all silly drunk and the crashed immiditately.
So after about 3 hours sleep we all got up about 7-8am this morning still drunk, as standard. After a quick shower we went down to a local cafe and polished off a burger, and had our first beer of the day.
We then met up with Kev, Rick, Tom and Garry (all dressed in just Speedos, a really bad taste shirt, Hawiian flower chains round their necks and pink sparkly plastic hat. Now, Byron is a pretty 'out there' place, but they still looked a little out of place just walking down the street..
Eventually after another beer or 2 we got on the 'Party Bus' which took us from Byron to Surfers Paridise where the boat would leave from. The real drinking started on the bus with the Goon etc, so by the time we got to Surfers at about 11:30am everyone was pretty merry.
We got on the boat just as the weather cleared up to make it a beautiful hot day. The music was playing, chicks were walking around in bikinis and everyone had a beer in their hand, just like in music videos!
After about an hour and a half on the boat we got to a private 'party island', where the boat we were on and another the same size unloaded all the people.
The island was so sick, there were a big Hawaiian style open sided shack with a DJ deck etc and huge dance floor, then a couple of bars and BBQ areas all out on beach.
As we were sat chilling on the beach people were flying around on Jet Skis and being pulled around on doughnuts behind boats.
By late afternoon everyone was starting to up the pace of the beers again and the place got more wild. The organisers started a girls wresting contest - they had to only wear their bikini's and a sock on one foot, they had to wrestle each other to the ground (in a paddling pool) and pull the opponents sock off. It goes without saying that was very entertaining!
We got on the boat to go back to Surfers about 6:30pm. Despite everyone slowly sobering up the boat back was a another nuts party, dancing around on the top deck etc.
When we got back we all nailed a quick Mc D's and jumped on the bus to get back to Byron. Once again a lot of people started to get back on it, most of which had got a bottle of wine or 2 just before getting on the bus. By now the night out in Byron was starting to catch up with me so I just had a couple of drinks and chilled on the bus.
When we got back to Byron it was about 9pm and Lenny and Lasse were absolutely battered, having polished off a bottle of wine each. They headed back out to Woodys bar with about half of the bus. The rest of us chilled for a while outside Nomads discussing the days madness.
Everyone who wasnt going clubbing again then went back to their rooms in Nomads. However Dan and I had been told it was now full, and we couldn't get a room there. So we went off on a mission to find somewhere to stay walking around the party crazied streets of Byron at about 11pm night.
After a cheeky kabab wrap and walking the whole of Byron we ended up back at Nomads, having been unsuccessful in our accomadation hunt. Just when we thought we would be doing a night in the car I checked with reception...to find there was room in there after all!
After a quick shower and writing this blog I crashed out.
(Unfortunately I didnt take my camera to the boat party for the fear of loosing/breaking it. Don't think I will forget it in a hurry though, I had such a good time!).
