BEIJING AIRPORT, Beijing Province:
In Beijing airport writing this, feeling quite frustrated!!
This last day and a bit has been ok. Got up fairly early Tuesday morning, after quite a decent sleep (unexpected) was very sick with nerves, but got over that ok.
Drove down to Heathrow with Dad, met Gareth and his Dad, checked in, said bye to Dads and got on plane to Copenhagen. Our seats weren't together for this flight, but it was only about 2 hours, so not the end of the world. Got off plane in Denmark, made our way to our connecting flight incredibly easily. THAT was a helpful airport with actual signs to tell you where to go! Groundbreaking stuff..
Got on plane, left Copenhagen, and it was about a 9 hour flight - the airplane had an amazing touch screen at the back of every seat - so i could choose from about 12 films that played on repeat the whole flight, as well as a selection of comedy shows including Flight of the Conchords (!!!) and the Big Bang Theory.. could also choose between two cameras outside the plane to see the land/sky below! Very cool :D
So yeah, all fine up until then, then the drama starts! As with every journey i spose...
Finally got to the gate for my 3rd and final flight to Guangzhou (i was told gate C21) - go to gate C21, and the woman at the desk shakes her head and points and gate C22, so i walk to the next gate, where the woman behind shakes her head and points to another gate. Go to this gate, where the woman nods and gestures for me to go through - not just to a departure lounge or to customs, but actually ON to the plane - about to do this when i notice the flight number isn't my flight number, and after saying this to the woman, she shrugs and points me back to the original gate!!!!!!
Was FINALLY informed that my flight has actually been cancelled, and now trying to sort out that my luggage does get put onto this next flight. Stood there for about 10 minutes while a woman and an old man argued in Chinese - the old man waving my boarding pass and luggage information ticket around, until he finally turned to me and said he'll get this back to me (i hope) and sort of wandered off. He'd better get it back to me or i'll be stuck in Beijing for a year!
