BEIJING CITY, Beijing Province:
We had the free breakfast at the hostel - was pretty good! Toast, ketchup & banana - what more could you ask for??
We decided to go to the Forbidden City today, and after initial problems reading the map, and then getting a taxi, we finally arrived!
The Forbidden City is absolutely amazing - so huge! We wandered around for maybe three hours but I don't think we saw all of it.
I forgot to charge up the battery for my camera, so it ran out towards the end... But I think Sarah & I may go back again in wintertime and hire an audio tour - think we'll get a better understanding of all the buildings and the history of the place.
Sarah split to go and meet Casey for her trip to Xi'an, and me, Claire and Emma met up with Warren, Teresa, Kirsty and Pete for some fish & chips! They were so tasty! The chips were amazing!
After eating we went back to the hostel to get ready to go out. We met up with all the Shenyang lot who were in Beijing, as well as some Beijing people (including Liz and Joakim! - two of our TEFL teachers), and we went to a bar in Sanlitun that was 50 yuan for all-you-can-drink.
Very watered down drinks, but still good anyway! We also got free Shisha, so that was fun!
We went on to a club afterwards - was joined by Solero & a guy from a previous TTC year - Matt, who'd been placed in Huairou! So we had a good chat about how brilliant Huairou is, and he shared some tips of places to try out.
