HUAIROU, Beijing Province:
Busiest day today, lots of returning test papers, which the students find hilarious because it consists of either me attempting to pronounce all their Chinese names, or them finding out their mates' English names, and considering some have names like God, Bluck, Chicken, Empty, Rainwater, Ice and You, I guess it would be kinda funny.
For ages on my names list I thought I had loads of students called 'Nothing' - was a few weeks before I realised that just means they don't have an English name! Duh...
For dinner we tried out a noodle bar Urs had recommended. Fortunately the menu had pictures, and with extremely broken Chinese and lots of pointing, we managed to order a pretty tasty meal!
The name of the place is obviously written in Chinese, but the first two symbols are identical and look like a combination of the symbols for 'love' and 'woman', so me and Sarah have christened this noodle bar 'Woman Love, Woman Love'.
