HUAIROU, Beijing Province:
Took my camera into school today to get some pictures of the classes.
Some of the Secret Santas really made me laugh today! Had about three 'piles of s***' - I'm not entirely sure they know that that's a bad word! One of my students, Harry, had been given a drawing of some lips with 'a kiss for you' written next to it! He wasn't as impressed - he told me it'd been given to him by a guy! haha
Class 2 were really great as well today. In the break Mr Guan was in the classroom (their Chinese English teacher) so the students were asking him loads of questions to ask me about what I'm doing next term, and my contract with Huairou No. 1 Middle School!
Before the lesson started, Cao Yu Xin (Susan) gave me a paper cutting she'd made - the most amazing dragon with the olympic symbol at the bottom. It's beautiful! I'm going to send it back with my parents so it stays safe, and probably frame it when I get back to England!
English Corner this evening was brilliant. Loads of people showed up, and one of the students, Victor, had this great idea of talking about animals - so every time the conversation died down, someone named an animal, and we'd talk about that a little, and the conversation would naturally move on to, well, anything! But it really got everyone involved and just speaking English, so I was well chuffed with that!
