BEIJING CITY, Beijing Province:
Had a lie-in this morning, was really nice!
After lunch we got the bus into Beijing City, and met up with Warren and Teresa (friends from Harbin). They took us to an area in the city called Sanlitun - where there are loads of bars & shops.
In the evening Teresa and Warren took us to some bars - had my first gin & tonic in China for only 10 yuan! Bargainous
We headed over to the train station to meet up with more friends who have been placed in Shenyang. It was really cool to see them, doesn't feel like I've only known them two months!
We got in taxis to our different hostels - I'm staying with Claire & Emma, as well as Sarah tonight before she goes off to Xi'an tomorrow.
The hostel's really nice! Really clean, and the bed's are comfy. The area's amazing around it - it's in a Hutong (Wikipedia says: "ancient narrow streets or alleys, most commonly associated with Beijing City"), so it looks really Chinesey, and there's loads of bars & restaurants to try out this week!
Once we'd settled our stuff out at the hostel, we met some of the others at Hou Hai bars, which again is a really lovely area. The bars are around a lake, and it was really buzzing tonight!
