HUAIROU, Beijing Province:
My students got well excited when I told them it was Hallowe'en today!
The classes went well again today, definately on to a winning lesson plan! It gets them listening, reading and speaking too!
Had our tuition session tonight - the activities we'd organised were successful. However, about half an hour before the end our doorbell went, and Sarah answered it - I half expected it to be one of the boys' Mothers, but it was a woman with a clipboard, who barged past Sarah, walked straight past me without even making eye contact and let herself into our kitchen.
She didn't say a word to us, even though we asked her quite a few times what she was doing, and when she did speak she only spoke to the boys in Chinese, who translated that she wanted 31元 from us! We figured out that it was for the gas, but that woman was so unnecessarily rude!
Yet another thing we're going to have to claim back from the school... wish us luck with that!
Anyways, when the boys were picked up, we were invited to dinner by Tony's mum on Sunday. I'm quite nervous about it to be honest, but I think it'll be a really good experience! We've told them we're both vegetarians, so we'll see how that one goes haha
We met up with Xiao Ya (Sophie) about 10pm, who took us to Datang - a club Sarah had noticed before but only thought it was KTV! They did have KTV rooms upstairs, but downstairs was this amazing club - no dance floor, but a stage for a 'play-show' (as Sophie called it)! The club had been decorated all Hallowe'en themed, and all the staff were dressed up like ghosts!
It was a brilliant night, but we failed miserably with our midnight curfew!
