HUAIROU & BEIJING CITY, Beijing Province:
The students have exams today, so I didn't have to teach!
It's crazy how you have to ask for everything here... No information is offered! I wouldn't've known about my day off if I hadn't asked about the alleged exam WEEKS we're having soon... apparently we don't have any, but ooo you have this Friday off.
Still, not complaining - it's a free day!
Went for a meeting this morning with Efren to discuss Korean class stuff. The students don't want to do poem, so they're now going to do their own version of American Idol! They want to improvise it as well, so this means basically my classes are going to be really fun with zero effort! Can't wait!
Anyways, afterwards I met Sarah and we got the bus to Beijing. We then got the subway to the Temple of Heaven, which was so beautiful. It was really hot today, a nice change! The grounds were full of Chinese people playing chess or cards, and dancing and singing randomly at a pitch that should only be heard by dogs.
The temples themselves were awesome too, which was a bit of a surprise actually - I thought I'd been templed out!
After the temples we quickly headed over to Yashow Clothing Market, to grab some warm hoodies (we're starting to really suffer from the cold in Huairou!)
When we finally made it back to the bus station (taxis were a nightmare! They never want to pick us up!) there was an enormous queue, but it went down quickly and it didn't take long to get home.
We went for dinner at Food Street... not as good as it normally is - think maybe they're not as popular in winter-time.
Had an early night so I won't struggle so much to get up for Korean class tomorrow!
