Kia Ora Guys
I was up and raring to go Monday morning but the same couldn't be said about Mel, she woke up looking pale and not too good.Mel being as she is was still planning on going to work but even she realised she wasn't well and called in sick... I managed to get her to relax on the sofa while I cleaned the house and made it look nice.
I left Mel to rest and rode up to the hairdressers for my haircut, which went quickly as usual. I then had to go for a ride on the bike to get 80kms on it ready for its service tomorrow so took a ride up the motorway to Orewa and came back through the East Coast Bays. The sun was out and it was a fantastic ride and really enjoyable until I got 10 minutes from home and nearly got run off the road twice on the way home so was not too impressed.
I got home and to my surprise Mel had actually rested and had a sleep,so she looked much better than earlier and some colour was coming back to her face.I nipped out again and went in the search of a new laptop as our one that had travelled with us and been a faithful servant for the last 2 years was fading fast!!
On my return I started on dinner, which I hoped would perk Mel up a bit more and we had Pork Escalope with peas and parma ham. Just as we sat on the sofa there was a knock at the door and I expected it to be Sue or Dave but it was a courier with my new contract. We quickly opened it and scanned through but decided to look at it tomorrow with fresh eyes and give it the attention it desreved...
It did mean that I knew what I would be earning at long last as I had not asked all through the interview process but I visited the IRD website to work out my tax code and how much I would have to give away!!!!!
This spurred us on to start pricing up whiteware and T.V's to get an idea of what we would have to pay out,we also started to look at rental properties before we knew it the night had passed and we had achieved quite a lot from the sofa!!!!!
Mel still wasn't feeling 100% and I think the talk last night of spending money hadn't helped!!!!
I rode over to Newmarket to the Harley dealers so the bike could have it's 1600km service and the oil changed,it was a gorgeous winter morning and the short ride over was fantastic even in rush hour which here isn't too busy.Once I had the bike back I went off to buy the new laptop we had decided on,I started in Harvey Normans and tried out their price match policy which clearly didn't work as he would only drop $50 which still made it $20 dearer than across the road in another store which is where I went straight away..
Pleased with the deal I headed home and Mel was looking tons better, while she watched the delights of daytime TV I started filling in all my contract paperwork so it could be posted back.Another piece of the puzzle clicked into place when our new credit cards arrived in the post but we had to make a visit to the bank to activate our PIN numbers so we could use them although at 20% APR they won't be coming out much!!!!!
Thankfully Mel was much better and ready for work tomorrow but we had a dinner date to honour this evening and made the short walk to Sue and dave's for dinner. We arrived as she wasputting the finishing touches to dinner and we sat in front of the open fire and chatted with the other guests before sitting down to a great roast dinner. We left around 11pm full and happy...
Mel went back to work Wednesday feeling and looking much better than she had done and I got the task of sorting out the new PC,which took me all day.By 3 o' clock I had just about finished and decided to pay Doug a visit to see how he was doing. I stopped for a beer and got to catch up with his news for the next hour or so before heading home.
Before Mel left for work I asked her about going to see the new Harry Potter movie but she wasn't too enthusiastic and we decided to save it until the weekend. It seemed fitting that we watched it here as we saw the last one in Auckland in 2007.
I walked into "Devo" and posted off my contract back to the council and then stopped off at the deli for a cup of tea.Mel arrived home and we went for a walk around town to work up an appetite, then tucked into a fantastic potato and pea risotto with monkfish for dinner.
Friday was a really normal day with not much happening but I did manage to go for a 2 hour ride which felt good. While I was out I was thinking about starting work and how exciting it would be to learn a new skill (running away from people trying to bash me for giving them a ticket!!!)
It was a really quick turnaround when Mel got home, she dived in the door I served up dinner (spicy Thai curry with rice) and she was back out the door at 5.30pm to go for drinks with Sue and her friends across the road. It was good for Mel to get out and I waited up until gone 11pm but she still wasn't home so I went to bed ,she arrived home shortly after looking merry, which made me laugh, but she had enjoyed herself immensely and couldn't wait for the next shindig...
The wind was blowing hard this morning and the trees were bending and rustling almost in a rhytmic manner,I opened the door expecting it to be cold but it was warm as we left to do the grocery shopping which seems to be a Saturday job now.It did change and become grey and overcast for a while but the sunshine did break through the blanket of cloud for the remainder of the day so a walk into "Devo" was on the cards. We stopped off for a happy hour beer and could see the clouds amassing over the city and the white caps starting to build.
The All Blacks were playing this evening and we managed to get home in time to watch the Haka.
Sunday was all about Harry Potter and after a lazy morning we set off for the 1.30pm showing but as we drove into the car park it became apparent that it was a popular movie. The place was swarming and we ended up with tickets for the 2.30pm showing so spent an hour walking around the shops and sitting by the lake waiting for our time. The movie was really good and we ate our Maltesers and drank our pop. I must be one of a few that have not read the books but I thought the film was good and we both enjoyed it a lot.
Lots of Love
