Kia Ora
Another Monday came around, Mel went off to work and I took care of domestic chores and also got final instructions from our landlord before they flew off on holiday.
I spent the next few days sorting out small little jobs that will become part of the bigger picture in the next 6-8 weeks while Mel went out and to work.My afternoons were taken up by riding the bike around and having a nice time in the autumnal weather and freedom before having to look for a job. While I was out on Thursday I got followed for a few kilometres and when I eventually pulled over the car that was following pulled over too. I was a little worried when 2 guys got out of the car and headed over to me, Luckily it was all good natured and turned out to be the guy from our French deli who also has a Sportster and just wanted to chat about the bike !!!!
We spent around 20 minutes on Narrow Neck Beach chatting before they disappeared as quickly as they arrived. mel had been busy at work so we took ourselves to the movies in the evening, as we had a coupon but unfortunately we couldn't use it and had to pay full price but still had a great time all the same.
Our landlords had been kind enough to leave us a car to use and I was in charge of taking Doug (our neighbour) to do his shopping at the local supermarket and it is always a pleasure. He always has a story to tell and we call for a coffee before hitting the shops, so it is a nice way to spend a morning. We had hoped for a quiet Friday evening but it all changed around 8pm when the cat sitter reported one of the cats missing,it didn't take us long to find him he had got locked in the garage and we could hear the meows,it only took a minute to coax him out with some food.......I am pleased to say that was the only drama of the evening.
We spent Saturday morning getting our groceries and we also had a visit to the bike shop to pick Mel some trousers up which turned out to be easy. The weather was so nice for this time of year so we saddled up and went for a short ride around the bays and stopped for coffee in Browns Bay, it was great to be out on the bike and we both enjoyed it a lot.
While we were enjoying our coffee, someone stopped to admire Mel's crash helmet as they were also fans of AC/DC. We made it home before the weather changed and I knocked up some panzanella before relaxing for the remainder of the afternoon. It was around midnight before we went to bed, which is late for us!!!!!
It was another early start on Sunday and no matter how much we tried to go back to sleep it wouldn't happen. I found myself making coffee in the kitchen which was cold,as the heating hadn't warmed the house through yet. Mel followed me into the kitchen and we started a new day. Both of us seemed to be in a doing mood today and we decided to walk into town rather than drive as the sun was out. We only needed bread and hotcakes but it turned into a shopping spree which saw us visiting the $2 shop,DVD shop and we stopped for coffee before heading to the wharf.
I had repaired my flip flops several times and managed to get another 5-6 weeks wear from them but as Martin left for the UK they finally gave up on me,and I had seen an advert in the wharf for flip flops that I like. It took me less than a minute to choose a pair which were very similar to my old ones just a bit snazzier and I left happy knowing I had new ones but sad knowing that I would have to throw my old ones in the bin when we got home!!!!
Back at the house it was homemade pizzas (we both burnt our mouths!!) for lunch then I left Mel reading and went out for a ride over to Mission Bay, it was a breezy afternoon and I got blown around on the bridge quite a bit and luckily I made it home just as the rain started to fall.
Next week will be differnet from most as on Friday it is Mel's birthday (21 again) so we have a few things planned for the weekend which will be ace. Hopefully we will also have some news on our visas shortly too.
Lots of Love
M & M
