Kia Ora
The last 10 days had been a blur and Monday saw Martin leave and head back to the UK but we did have all day before he needed to be at the airport. Once I had collected him from the hotel we called into the bike shop to check out our new bike and it looked better than I had expected all shiny and new and definately worth the wait.
The weather outside was lousy and we met Andy at the wharf and I took them to Takapuna Beach Cafe for lunch as we tucked into our food a fantastic rainbow appeared over the bay and brightened up the grey sky.
We squeezed in a couple of games of bowling before dropping Andy back at his hostel to get ready to go to Fiji and after picking Mel up from work we were on the way to the airport and Bear was on his way home. After saying goodbye we left him to clear passport control, the last 10 days had been good fun and we hope we showed him some cool stuff.
Tuesday morning arrived and I wasn't feeling the best so went to see the doctor and we decided that I possibly could have had a reaction to some tablets I was taking so decided to stop them.Later that afternoon the bike arrived and I got to go for a quick ride around but planned a longer ride for Wednesday.Mel got home early and loved the bike.
It was a beautiful day and I took the bike out around the East Coast Bays by the sea which was nice, although the sky greyed over later on so I jumped on the motorway, just as I joined it the rain started to fall and I managed to get home only half soaked through!!!
In the last 7 weeks or so I seem to be stumbling from one thing to the next and on Thursday I pulled my trapezoid muscle and had to go to bed early to rest it.
Mel got home from work late on Friday and we had to go straight to the hospital to get my shoulder looked at as it had gotten worse through the course of the day. There was a 4-7 hour wait at the hospital,so we left.Luckily across the road in the private clinic I was seen within 10 minutes but of course it cost us money!!!!
It turned out I had strained the main neck muscle and had to take some anti-inflammatories to take away the pain.I think they were strong enough to knock out a gorilla and did the trick for me!!!
Saturday morning we got to meet up with the lady who will be looking after our Landlord's cats while they are overseas then we had a really important job to go and collect our free loaf of bread from Devonport as Mel had a coupon!!!! The weather held long enough for us to clean out the car from last weekend, you would have thought we had 2 kids in the car as there was mud and food everywhere so it was good to get it cleaned out.
I woke up early Sunday and turned around in bed to see Mel reading her new book, apparently she had been up since 7am (on a Sunday!!!) Mel said she would make breakfast but it became apparent she meant making the tea and coffee while I did bacon and beans on toast.......
It was 19 degrees today so I took Mel out for a quick spin on the bike to see what she thought and as I expected she loved it.We stopped off to feed the ducks before returning home and walking into town for a coffee and to stretch our legs.Today turned out to be a nice Sunday as we had a fantastic roast lamb dinner then a late afternoon nap on the sofa.
Lots of Love
