Well i'm glad to report that the last week has seen no more run ins with cows (joggers) in fields, and our first week in the motel has gone well.I have christened it Crossroads the only thing we are missing is a Benny type character with a wooly hat on,there may be a job for me yet!!!
As you all know Mel has started work now and is enjoying it immensely and my week has been pretty mixed with chores and meetings, yes meetings.Even though I am not working I still have meetings!!!!
Monday was an exciting day because I had to go and collect Mel's passport which had her official Work Permit in there,so she is an official member of the NZ workforce now and will start to pay tax. (BOO) We decided over the weekend I would take Mel to work and that left me with the car to use through the day so I could get around, although I secretly think Mel likes being chauffered to work, she hasn't gone as far as sitting in the back and calling me Parker yet!!!
As our motel is near One Tree Hill we have been using it as part of our exercise and walk up it every night and then back down before dinner, the views from the top are excellent,it isn't high but it gets the heart racing which is always good.
Because Tuesday was such a nice day I took myself o Devonport where I had a couple of jobs to do but the real joy was sitting on Narrow Neck Beach in the sun eating salami and cheese with crusty bread and reading for a while,it was a scorcher and I think I left the beach a few pounds heavier with all the sunscreen I had lathered on over the 2 hours.
By Wednesday I hadn't seemed to have stopped and Mel was saying how quick her days passed at work and how great the job was.I don't know about everyone else but now and again you get days where you have so many jobs you meet yourself coming back and today was that day.I had so many jobs to do on the PC I spent a full day on it sorting out a few financial things and making various phone calls but again the day went so quickly and we were getting closer to Friday.
So there I was on Thursday morning in Takapuna waiting for the AA shop to open to get a motorbike quote. I had dropped Mel and expected much more traffic.I chatted with the guy there and it became apparent that if I end up with a motorbike it is not going to be cheap to insure but I still had other avenues to pursue. Now my meeting at the bank wasn't until 10.30 so I was really stuck for an hour.I did try to get in early but to no avail so I had to sit tight and wait my turn.
The meeting went well and we got everything sorted that needed it but I was dissappointed not to get a free coffee out of it!!!
The news was full of severe weather warnings on Thursday evening for heavy rain, but although it was humid there was no rain in sight, that was until around 5am Friday morning when the heavens opened and the wind blew,it was like atropical storm and bucketed it down as I am writing this nearly 9 hours later the weather hasn't changed and the rain is still bouncing off the asphalt and the roof, which was typical as it was my laundry day and I now have clothes hng all over the motel room on the backs of chairs and on coathangers everywhere.
When the cleaner came in to clean today she did give me a funny look when she saw the clothes hung up everywhere, but as her English is no better than my Chinese we just smiled at each other and I let her get on with cleaning, although she did laugh when I said thank you to her in Chinese as she left....
I will be off to collect Mel in a few hours as everyone seems to finish early on a Friday and she will no doubt be ready for her weekend and will have earned it after a hard week at work. The wine is chilling in the fridge and it has her name on it.
We have a fun weekend planned I am going to college to do a barista course while Mel takes it easy ,hopefully on the beach or in one of her favourite places, the library. And on Sunday we are going to watch the Warriors v North Queensland Cowboys in a friendly game so we will report back about all that on Sunday evening.
Bye for now from a really wet and rainy Auckland,if we don't get wahsed away we will be back on Sunday with more tales.
Happy Anniversary Dad and Lesley for Sunday xx
Everyone have a great weekend and wil be in touch again soon.
Lots of Love
M & M
xx
