Both Mel and I felt a little lethargic this morning and just hung around the house catching up with email.I had one telling me that I was unsuccessful for a position I had applied for and we also had one from TEG stating our application had been referred to the medical examiner to check out Mel's hip and it could take up to 3 weeks to get returned which set us back a touch but we can only sit and wait to see what the outcome is.
Between the sudden downpours and the sunny spells we managed to get out for a walk into Devonport to do a few chores before heading onto Seabreeze Road to feed the ducks and Pukekos one of which had a lame leg and we felt really sorry for it.
By the time we returned to the house we were knackered and Mel had feet that were overheating as she had swapped to trainers at the last second before leaving the house and the sun had come out so she was overheating!!

Today the rain kept on coming down in sporadic bursts which meant Mel was backwards and forwards to the washing line quite a bit!!!
The email yesterday had put the brakes on us a little and the whole thing meant after chatting with TEG I would be better waiting for all the paperwork before trying for a job, which is a shame as there were several I could have applied for but they do have a lfar off deadline date so they have been filed for now.We always knew that it would be a waiting game so we have got really good at that.
Our visit to the movies was supposed to cheer me up but to be truthful the movie (seven pounds with Will Smith) nearly sent me to sleep,it was a good story but dragged along and didn't score highly with either of us.

It was the Wednesday that we had been waiting for,the return of the pub quiz, but we had the daytime to go first. Now I have never been a big fan of navy's but we decided to take a walk to the museum here in Devonport,1)because it was free, 2) to check out the museum and 3) it meant we got a walk for the exercise too.The museum was OK but we expected it to be on a boat, not sure why and as it was quite small it only took us around an hour to look around. We picked up the Herald and I had alook through the job pages for anything that was around.
The pub was packed for the first quiz of the New Year with 18 teams vying for the kitty, again we were the smallest team with 2 members but finished a respectable 14th.Unfortunately we didn't win the Lotto so it means we will have to try again on Saturday.

We set off for our weekly shop, the sun was shining and we had the windows down with Rock FM blasting out on the radio. It was then that things started to go wrong,as we drove through Takapuna our car shuddered and cut out on us,I just had enough momentum to coast to the curb.Unfortunately it was on a yellow line but I put on the hazards and that was about as much as we could do.
Luckily or unluckily (depends how you look at it) we had taken out AA cover so I made a call to them and we just sat and waited. It seemed that the hazards on and us sat in the car wasn't enough for some motorists and we got car horns and funny looks, one guy even gave us the finger in the 30 minutes we had to wait.Unfortunately it was something that couldn't be fixed at the roadside and he had to tow us to the garage about a mile away.
This meant that the grocery shopping had to wait and it also meant that we had no car for the weekend. In all the cars we have owned we have had 4 breakdowns and all of them have been on bank holidays and this one today has been no exception,as it is a bank holiday here!!!
The AA guy dropped us home where we were formulating a plan.Luckily Sue arrived and when we explained what had happened she let us take her daughters car so at least we could get our grocery shopping done, and for that we are grateful.
It did however throw a spanner in the works for the Breakers game as we now had no car but we worked out a plan and that was that. The drawback is that we cannot go too far this weekend but luckily there is plenty going on here the next few days.
The Breakers game was excellent although they couldn't record a win but we had a great time and will definately go again soon. Will be in touch with more updates in the next few days.
Lots of Love
