Wednasday 24th December 2008
The rain was still pouring and we had a full morning planned around the house.Only Fools and Horses was on the TV and we set about baking for our Xmas Day feast. We mixed up our ingredients for the sausage rolls and got them rolled up and in the oven,25 minutes later the best sausage rolls in the world emerged and because I was impatient and didn't let them cool I ended up with a burnt tongue!!
They smelt amazing and we both kept nibbling on them until we realised that if we kept going there wouldn't be any for tomorrow!, so we put the lid on them and turned our attention to a couple of cheese and onion pasties we had knocked together with the leftover pastry..
All the baking had made us thirsty and we set off for our walk, but no sooner had we got to the top of the drive the rain started to pour and we were pretty wet by the time we reached the pub.The place wasn't too busy and we managed to get a table so decided to eat there rather than cook, the food was delicious and the rain had stopped. We stepped out onto the dry streets for the walk home and the rain started again so by the time we got home we were soked again and took some drying down.
Thursday 25th December 2008 (Xmas Day)
After a nice lie in this morning we had a lovely cooked breakfast. It was a nice surprise to check our email and find that we had lots of email wishing us a Merry Xmas which was really great so thank you for that. The sky was overcast but we remained optimistic that it would improve.By the time we had packed up our esky's for the beach it looked like we would have to take the car there was that much stuff but luckily it's not a long walk!!!
The beach wasn't too busy when we arrived and we found a good spot to set out our pitch and we were ready to go.The sun had come out and we gave Mel's new travel scrabble a run out to start the festivites. It's amazing how long the game lasts when you have all the tiles available!!
It wasn't quite high tide but it was high enough for a swim and the water was cold but refreshing and it was nice to be swimming on Xmas Day.By now it was late enough for a glas of wine and the cool bag had done it's job so we opened up the Sauvignon Blanc. The UV rays were strong today and despite the sunscreen we both picked up a bit of colour, the sausage rolls were going down great and so was the wine!!!
I know for some of you Xmas Day hasn't happened yet and when it does we will be nearing the end of ours so I hope you all have as much fun as we have had.
Merry Xmas everyone
P.S If any one wants my sausage roll recipe let me know they are ace and very tasty..
Lots of love
