Monday 30th March 2009
Our Monday started just like any other persons would, but for some reason with a bit more energy than usual. The alarm played at 6.45am and we wiped away the sleep from our eyes and got ready for the day ahead.
Mel went off for her first day of training which she would be on all week at the hospital and I set about cleaning the house, thankfully with it being small it doesn't take too long to do!!
After my flip flops had given way last Sunday I had been thinking how I could fix them and I couldn't seem to find an answer to the problem,I found a solution in good old superglue and after cleaning up the busted part I tried sticking it together (anything to save buting a new pair!!!) and to my delight it worked,so I just had to road test them later in the week.
The autumnal weather was producng some really nice pinky red skies and the vew from North Head this evening was superb,I was just a bit upset that I didn't have my camera with me but decided that next time it was a clear evening I wold head up to get some shots of the city.
Well another month rolled to a close, but it ended on a high as I checked the email and we had one from our immigration consultant in the UK to say they had cleared my medical for the application, which was great news.We were bith really pleased as it means we just have to now get Mel's medical cleared and things should start moving then, but unfortunately the letter from the consultant in the UK is proving difficult to get sorted,so we just have to keep pluging away on that front.
The rest of the week passed without too much excitement and Saturday was upon us.Once we got sorted we took a ride over to Mt Eden for the village fete, which I had seen advertised on the web. There were stalls on the street and music from pacific islanders and the place was really busy,so we spent some time there and had lunch before heading back.
Luckily the tide was out at Milford when we arrived and although it was breezy the beach was full of people, more than we expected at 6pm, and I am pleased to say that my flip flops stood up to the test of walking on the beach. I had been thinking about cheescake for the last few days and called in at the Cheescake Shop to pick up a slice. What I didn't know was that you couldn't buy it by the slice and even I can't eat a full cake!!!
It was our turn for the clocks to change on Saturday so I went around and knocked them all back 1 hour ready for the winter.
The clocks must have had a profound effect as we were up early,it is amazing what a difference the hour can make. We took a walk up the road to the local school fete in Devonport, which was the best fete we had been to,with bands and food stalls and a coconut shy, sausage sizzle and bungee running, they also had planes flying overhead too.We watched the Warriors get beaten again by the Rabbitohs, which means 2 wins and 2 losses, but they are going a bit better than the Bulls at the minute!!!
We are now only 11 hours in front of the UK because of the clock changes in the UK and here in NZ.Look out for our next update which will probably be in around a weeks time.
Lots of Love
M & M
