Monday 29th December 2008 (The day everything seemed to happen)
I drove Mel over to Point Chevalier for her second meeting about the job she had gone for last week, and while she was there I took care of boring jobs like visiting the bank and posting mail before dealing with a few overdue emails. The time flew by and 90 minutes later I was crossing the harbour bridge again to go and collect Mel.She was waiting in McDonalds drinking a coffee but was full of good news.
She had received a formal job offer and we were both ecstatic and on the way home she told me all the details and the ins and outs,we couldn't have been happier and decided that later on that evening we would go out and celebrate.
Next job to be ticked off on Mel's list was hair appointment and this took a matter of seconds in the salon and she would be back tomorrow to sort out her frizzy mop of hair!!!
Wasting no time and on a roll we headed up to Wairau Rd where all the car garages are(like Canal Rd in Bradford for those of you that know it) we ducked in and out of several and saw a couple we liked. One was the Honda Jazz but a little oover budget at $14,000 or 5,500 pounds but it didn't deter us and we took it for a test drive anyway, but the car had a judder which was down to the CVT transmission and nothing new fluid wouldn't sort out so we made a date to return tomorrow to try again.
Our celebration invoved a couple of drinks at the Patriot, even though it was raining heavy it was warm and we sat outside in the rain under a parasol, eventually only the 2 of us were left outside but it was ace.I was so happy for Mel as the job will be right up our street and things seemed to be coming together bit by bit.

With the frizzy mop cut (which looked really nice) we found ourselves back at the car garage trying out the car again, the problem had been fixed but we couldn't get them to budge on price so we ended up walking away from the deal as we still had 2 weeks to find something. On the way home we stopped at the local car dealer and he happened to have a VW Polo in that we took for a drive and also a VW Golf which was just outside our range, but we made a date to return tomorrow for a test drive and to see if we could thrash out a deal.
Wednesday 31st December 2008 (New Years Eve)
As we have to move out from the house on Friday for a week we were running low on provisions but managed to scrape brekky together before driving up to the car garage for a test drive of the Golf.It was a real nice drive and we liked it but it was a couple of thousand dollars (750 quid) deared than the Polo.It took us a while but eventually we got to some middle ground and we are now the proud owners of an oldish (2001) VW Golf which seems to be in real good condition with 40,000 miles on the clock.Cars are a little more expensive here and I can only put it down to there not being too many people, but a lot are Japanese imports that are in real good condition.
As we had been on a roll we figured we may as well sort out our insurance in Takapuna so that was next, just when I thought we had finished for the day Mel pulled out her "list" and it had on the bottom, sort out library membership so off we went,by the time we had finished I was shattered and needed a nap if I was going to see in the New Year!!!!
Speaking of which a very happy New Year to you all we hope 2009 is a wonderful year for you.
Lots of Love
