Kia Ora
After a blast on the push bike this morning,I set off walking to the ferry terminal for my morning in the City and a visit to the immigration offices to try and get an extension to my tourist visa. I was pleased to see there wasn't a queue and I made my way to the desk to get some help.
I had prepared all my spiel to lay on them but before I could get going I was met with "place all your documents in the brown envelope and place in the postbox" this took me by surprise but I was unable to do this as they wouldn't accept payment on my card so I had to leave the building and go get cash, whch meant unsealing the envelope and starting over, but I got there in the end.
As my hands are tied until the visas arrive I made the most of the weather on Tuesday once I had cleaned up the house I spent a cracking afternoon on the beach reading.
We took a chance on Wednesday and I took Mel to work hopingmy letter from the hearing specialist would arrive.Luckily the hunch paid off and it meant I could go and send off all the required paperwork back to the UK for the medical assessor to look at.
Before we knew it Thursday had arrived and the weeks really are flying by,the weather has started to change as we head into Autumn and today was a fowl day.The heavens opened as I left the house for the 30 minute walk to the hairdressers and despite having an umbrella by the time I reached the salon the rain had crept up my jeans and they were wet from the bottom to the thigh and my feet were soaked too, this meant while I was having my haircut I dripped all over the place!!!!
The rain was running down the gutters real fast as I walked into Devonport after my haircut but by the time I got there the sun was out and it was blazing hot, just one of the features of Auckland weather but I for one was glad to see the sun.I was still trying to get to the bottom of whether I can just swap my driving licence over to a kiwi one but I had been told I would have to sit another bike test, but after another call to LTNZ it seems this wouldn't be the cae but until my passport gets returned from INZ,I will just have to wait, but will be ecstatic if I don't have to sit a test.
Thursday was haircut day as Mel went for her barnet chopping after work while I sorted out dinner.
Friday came and went so quickly and on Saturday morning we were in Takapuna buying Mel a brand new puzzle book,as she had remembered on Friday that the new issue was on sale and we had to have it!!!
Because Mel is working we try to do something with our weekends but this one was going to be quieter due to budget constraints, but we still have to have a little fun.The ferry was quiet even though we had a cruise ship docked, but the city was buzzing with mods everywhere as the Who were in town this evening so there were parkas and scooters all over.
Mel and I had a nice few hours in the City, catching up with each other and just relaxing before heading back on the ferry to Devonport, but you could really tell that the autumn was coming as the wind had got up and the crossing was a little bumpy.
It was back to Taka on Sunday to do the grocery shopping and visit the market but unfortunately we were a little late and they were packing up as we arrived.Today was also "Devonstock" which had been rescheduled because of the bad wether several weeks ago and we scrambled up Mt Victoria in the afternoon to check out the bands. If the truth be known we have learnt that each of these events has a sausage sizzle and we can't resist them,so we sat and listened to the music eating our sausages on the rug in the sunshine with fantastic views of Rangitoto and the city.
Lots of Love
