Sam and Stu's Kiwi Travels
Today we had a decision to make... a very tough one mind, after all the snow yesterday, where do we go? Coronet or The Remarks? Well after some careful deliberation we decided to head up to the Remarkables and then we'd go to Coronet Peak tomorrow.
This turned out to be a good decision. When we got to the base station it was obvious that they'd had a nice covering of snow, and we were getting ourselves ready for a really good day on the slopes.
We headed straight to the top for all the usual runs down, they had much improved and both Sam and I were skiing and boarding really well in the nice new snow... so well in fact that we thought we'd film ourselves coming down the slopes - just so we can show you all just how nice it was when we get back :o).
First off I filmed Sam coming down the blue run through the centre of the mountain, a very nice run with a good covering of snow. Unfortunately there was quite a lot of wind... this caused a little bit of trouble when I got slightly lower, whilst I was focusing the camera on Sam the wind caught my rucksack and blew it down the hill!!! So with camera in hand I quickly unstrapped my bindings and headed after it... luckily it got caught in a snow drift half way down, but it was full of snow!!
Anyway back to the filming, I got Sam coming down this part of the run really nicely, putting all her turns in really well now. We then continued down to the chairlift filming on the way.. hopefully it looks really good. Then Sam did the same for me.
After the filming we decided to grab a bite to eat in the Cafe before heading out again for the afternoon skiing. At the top of the first chairlift there was a lady taking photos of people on their skis, so as we like photos so much, we thought we'd get one. She took some nice photos of us lying down and Sam with one ski in the air etc.. a proper photo shoot! Anyway we've now got a couple of photos of us on The Remarkables, sold to us by a graduate of St Andrews without an ounce of sense... go figure?!
We then headed home for leftover pizza and a few beers.
