Sam and Stu's Kiwi Travels
Today we thought that we would try something that I had read about in Denny's Journal back from when he was in Queenstown... Frisbee Golf?!
We wandered to the Queenstown Gardens as we had seen a sign for Frisbee Golf when we came for the ice hockey, but knew nothing more. Once we got there we saw that we needed to get to town and buy a frisbee and a map/scorecard from one of the shops.
Our first stop was R&R Sports where we found that they had sold out of frisbees as it was more of a summer thing? Well, we could see that, but it was a really nice day out so we headed off to Small Planet, a second hand sports shop in town. They told us the same story and that we may be able to get one from a sports shop round the corner... Sports NZ was the place, we wondered in and asked, they had the frisbee and the score card that we needed.. off we went!!
We found the first tee by the path into the gardens, I gave Sam the honor, first frisbee... into the tree!! Hmm... lets see if I could do any better... nope not really, think this could take a while.
Frisbee golf takes place round the Queenstown Gardens, you tee off at designated tee spots and then head for a target. This tarhet could be either in the form of a tree or a metal basket... scoring and rules the same as golf.
Well it was Double Bogey and Bogey for Sam and I on the first, room for improvement I think!
Anyway we made our way round the course... slowly as it was a bit of a mission finding the tees and the targets hidden in the trees, plus we found that one of the targets was actually in an excavation spot surrounded by danger tape!!?!? As we went round we were definately getting the hang of it with a couple of pars going out, and the same coming in...
We were past by a couple of other groups playing, they had obviously played before and they had what could only be described as 'modern golf discs' whilst we were playing with amature frisbees?!? A little more practice and it may be worth getting a couple of those!
Well, we started playing around 2pm and by the time we were finishing it was dark... but we had enjoyed the round and I was happy as I hadn't been beaten this time! 80 - 94 being the final score!
After the golf we headed back into town to get some food and go on the internet for a bit. We then thought that we would head to the Video Ezy to rent a DVD. I have never seen any of the 24 Series so we thought we'd try one instead of Friends. We then headed back to the Flat to settle in for the evening..
