Sam and Stu's Kiwi Travels
Back to the early morning alarm and we were off skiing again!! We caught the 8:15 shuttle from outside the Copthorne and we were on the slopes by 9! Our first couple of runs were really nice, first tracks almost, as there were very few people there that early. By 10 the slopes were busy as ever, and we were fighting our way down our favourite intermediate run as half of it had been cordened off for the festival's 'Stars on Snow' competition.
We had a good mornings skiing and then stopped around 1 to watch the competition and have a bit of lunch. The stars were all local tv presenters and Kiwi athletes that we hadn't really heard of, but it was good fun watching them slalom down the course (as the majority of them weren't particularly good skiers), dive through gates, and fall over hay bales...
After the competition we headed back up the slopes for a few more runs, Sam's now getting more and more confident, whilst I'm still trying to improve on my snowboard... we then caught the last shuttle back to town.
After a nice relaxing hot tub back at the hotel we got changed and headed into town for the Mardi Gras street party. They had a couple of bands playing on different stages that we wandered between, before grabbing some delicious waffles and heading to Monty's for some food...
