Sam and Stu's Kiwi Travels
We woke at the alarm, 7am ready to get the early bus to the slopes. Sam wasn't really in the same frame of mind, she wasn't feeling all that well, she had a bit of a headache and sore stomache. After some deliberation over the situation WE decided that I would go skiing and Sam would have a day off in front of the TV. I got my gear together, left Sam to gain some much needed R&R and headed down to the shuttle from Kingsgate hotel to The Remarkables. Well I didn't realise how tired I was, no sooner had I put my tunes on and rested my head against the window the next thing I knew we were an hour down the road and unloading at the base station of the Ski area... I woke up, got my gear together and headed to the slopes. The snow conditions weren't all that good, but I was going to make the most of the morning so I didn't stop and did a few of the runs that we hadn't tried yet. There's a few really steep blues that I hadn't braved with Sam yet, so I thought hey, what the hell... well there's a really steep run to the left of the chairs that I've seen numerous people take a tumble from the top all the way to the bottom, so now it was my turn... Well I must be getting better on my board now, I made it down without a fall... just a lot of sharp turns and clouds of snow from the board, it was good fun though. I had also been reading a book in a store the other day, and I figured now I knew where I was going wrong with my jumps, so I thought I'd throw a few of them in as well. The first, hmm.. not so good, but then I tried a couple off the lip of a slope and managed to land them... onwards and upwards people!! Anyway I caught the first bus back to check that Sam was okay. She hadn't really moved from the sofa when I got back, and to be honest wasn't looking too great. Time for me to feel a little guilty.. I put the kettle on for a nice warm cup of Tea and made her some toast. We then sat there for a while watching Friends, with Sam dropping off to sleep on occasion... I then went out to catch some fresh air and to get Sam some chocolate to try to boost her energy. It was raining... I'm hoping this means that it's snowing in the hills!! I got the chocolate and headed back to the flat. We then had a light dinner and watched some more tv before bed. We saw an advert telling us about seasonal flu ... hmm simptom 1) headache... 2)muscle aches 3) sore stomache .... I think we know what's wrong with Sam now... to the pharmacy tomorrow morning!
