Sam and Stu's Kiwi Travels
Today after a little bit of a lie in to nurse Sam's hangover we wandered into town to confirm that our viewing of Vanda Place was still on for this afternoon. By this time it was lunch, so we stoped in The Bakery and picked up a couple of pies and Mud Muffins... mmm!
We had a quick look at a couple of excursions, Lord of the Rings tours and Milford Sound, before heading up to Vanda Place for our viewing!!...
Once we got there (by taxi this time!) we met up with the estate agent and another couple who were also viewing it.... well lets just say once she had told us about the frozen water, the lack of heating and that the back walls of the property needed thawing, we politely said we weren't interested and would she mind giving us a lift back to town?!?! ... and so continues our hunt for a property.
Well after all the excitement we decided to head out for dinner.. back to Dux de Lux again, this time due to the fact that they have half price large pizzas every Monday! Sam decided against Pizza as she needed something Greasy... whilst I opted for their Chicken and Bacon Pizza with plum sauce! They've got so many different Pizza's out here they've kinda become our staple diet.
After dinner we headed to the 'Fun Centre' to watch an evening of action packed ice hockey!! We were slightly suspicious once we got there, as the entrance fee was only $2, and when we walked through the door and saw a bunch of 5 year olds padding up, our suspicions grew?!?.. but we headed in anyway and took our seats.
We were slightly encouraged when a team of Canadian blokes hit the ice to warm up, but then came the Queenstown 'All Stars'!!! well I'm not lying when I say one of them had to crawl onto the ice... couldn't have been much older than 2!!!! They started warming up, skating round the ice, half of them on their bums, worth the $2 just for comedy value! The game got underway, and lets just say it wasn't the fast paced, high octane game we were expecting!!!! Surprisingly the All Stars took a 3 goal advantage in the first period and we decided to stay for the second period as a slightly older team hit the ice, but by the end of the second period it was time to leave as it looked as if that was as good as it was going to get!
