Sam and Stu's Kiwi Travels
Today the plan is to go and get a job!! After our massive episode of 24 yesterday we thought we'd make up for it by heading to town and finding a job...
We started by walking into town via all of the hotels along the way. First the Kingsgate Hotel... nothing available... then the Millenium... nothing available... our next stop was the Copthorne Hotel, seems strange that 3 weeks ago we were staying here, and now we're asking for jobs... they obviously charged us too much and we want some of the money back!! They had no jobs going and neither did the Novotel, another former residence! This wasn't looking too good. The reason we were told is due to the freak influx of people over the past week or so, it's normally quiter by now! Darnit!!
The employment agency was next... we needed a cv, these were on the computer, and we were told to dum them down a little, aparently proffesional looking cv's don't get you jobs round here!
We went to the internet depot to see what we could find on the internet. We had the cv's but couldn't print them off in here or edit them, so we thought we'd have a look on the internet and see if we could find a job there. The only thing that we could find in Queenstown was with NZSki as a childminder... I don't think so.
Now it was time for lunch... I haven't had a KFC or a MCDonalds for quite some time now, so I thought I'd treat myself and we headed to McDonalds for chicken nuggets.
Next stop was the internet outpost to sort the cv's out. We found them and deleted a couple of points making it look like we were the type of people that they are looking for...
By this time it was getting on a bit so we headed home as I had an important phone call to make to Countryside and there was nothing left to do in town.
We got in and watched another episode of 24 before Sam started to cook a curry and I rang Keith at Countryside. I managed to get hold of him and he didn't waste any time in telling me why he wanted me to call... "Stuart, I have a job for you" he said... simple as that! I couldn't believe it, I didn't know what to say. I told him that we were still in New Zealand and that I was coming home around the end of September, that's fine he said, just start when you get back!! Again, couldn't believe it, we didn't talk for long as I was calling from New Zealand and he told me he'd email me the details.
I went into the lounge to tell Sam with the biggest smile on my face! I think she was as happy as me, gave me a big hug and a beer to boot! Of course I was then straight on the phone to my Mum and Dad to tell them the good news, both of them were thrilled! Sam had in the meantime called her parents, and I'm pretty sure they were happy too... well we might not have found a job in NZ today, but hey we can't complain!
