Sam and Stu's Kiwi Travels
Today was our first day on the slopes!!! We were very eager beavers, and we managed to get ourselves out of bed in time to catch the first ski shuttle at 8:30! It took about a half hour to get up to Coronet Peak, once we got there we were met by beautiful blue skies and loads of snow!! We started off on a green run so that Stu could get his boarding legs back and Sam could rediscover her skis... we moved swiftly on to the blue runs and were bombing down the mountain in no time!
We had a couple of breaks for hot chocolate with a shot Amarula to warm us up, and a short break for lunch.. but other than that we were on the slopes non-stop 'till 4! We couldn't have asked for better skiing conditions, they had had snow over the weekend, so plenty of powder for the board, and the runs were nice and smooth. The pistes were very open, no trees as we were at the top of the mountain, just clear runs to the bottom. All in all, a pretty good days skiing.
By the time we got back to the hotel room we were both pretty shattered so we ordered takeaway from Pizza Hut, and chilled in the room...
