Having gone to bed about 11 local time I was well rested by this morning & got up with Stefan and Emily before they started work.
We began the day with a birthday mimosa each to celebrate Stefan's birthday. After the present opening he headed off to work & I went for a run. Stefan & Emily's flat is located 2mins from prospect park. This extremely large and pleasant park is great for getting lost in & discovering exciting sites. This encouraged me to run slightly longer than I had anticipated. Later reflecting on my run I did a loop de loop, that brought me out the park a mile & a half away from the flat. I did get to walk past the Brooklyn museum & botanical gardens though.
By 09:00 I was back at the flat & slowly went about planning the day. I nipped to the shop for some sandwich filler and some bacon for tomorrow morning. Then I headed to Beer & Soda a large warehouse that stocks beer from all over the world. I got Stefan some Duvels to celebrate like a big boy. After which I went for a walk & sitdown in the park again as the sun was out in force and it was too good to ignore.
Back at the house I watched Dexter on Netflix after I discovered a new series had come out.
Then I made plans for going into Manhattan for the first time on this trip. Near the Standard hotel a bar had opened since I was here last called the Brass Monkey. This had an outdoor section overlooking the water. During the course I my pint I absolutely baked having worn a shirt and jeans for the meal to come tonight.
Becoming worried about my exposure to the sun I headed to a basement dive bar called Down the Hatch. $2.75 for a Budweiser can't be argued with. I discovered it was part of a group of bars throughout Manhattan. One of which was just 3mins walk away. Three Sheets was on ground level with a large front window. With beer pong, giant Jenga & a funnel behind the bar, you could see why it was such a popular college hang out. Some classic 90's tunes from take that & Will Smith certainly promoted a fun atmosphere.
Time was approaching to meet Stefan & Emily so I walked up to the Spotted Pig. This popular restaurant was very busy even on a Tuesday. We were sat on a table with stools as opposed to chairs not good for people our age, Emily of course didn't notice. Few years yet until she does! The burger which we all opted for was great. Rochford cheese along with shoestring fries. Which cannot be eaten in a British manner & must be stuffed down with your hands.
We returned home after the meal in very sensible fashion. I wasn't arguing I was asleep very shortly after Stefan & Emily.
