The subway took us two stops to 50th street where we alighted for some lunch at the highly recommended stardust diner. Here the staff are all aspiring broadway stars & take turns signing popular & nostalgic songs. The diner itself is on a 1950's theme & serves large portions with large shakes. At the end of my burger & shake, I was lucky to be able to get out of my chair.
Next stop 5th Avenue where Charlotte got to experience shopping tourist new York style. As we shuffled our way around the Abercrombie store. After dropping in to look at Gucci & Tiffany's, we made our way over to Bloomingdales. By this stage I was tiring of the shopping experience but managed to see it through to the end. We grabbed a coffee in the cafe as the rain cleared, before we headed to the subway.
Here we nearly lost Lorna as she struggled with the turnstile & wasted her fare. Thankfully a kind hearted local paid for her to go through saving her a taxi fare.
Charlotte decided she would like a nice relaxing evening in the hotel. So Lorna & high headed to the St Regis hotel for a cocktail. This hotel is famous for creating the bloody Mary cocktail, not one of my personal favourites but one of Lorna's.
In an effort to avoid the rain we grabbed a bite in the tick tock 24hr diner located just off the hotel lobby. This experience shall not be repeated in a hurry. The food was fast out & pretty tasteless. The Californian wine my mother opted for would be better served as a cleaner, although perhaps the foul smell may make that role impossible for it as well.
The upsetting dining experience delayed me getting to sleep but at least I managed to find a good Will Smith film to pass the time.
