After a good nights sleep we collected Vivian & Dan & headed off to the beach.
Our destination was Jones Beach in Long Island. The journey itself was around 45mins. The beach is in a state park but still has a six lane highway for access. There are also numerous large parking lots so the full extent of the beach can be exploited.
We parked in lot 5, & managed to find a space near the water. The sea was very cold which was very much needed after sitting in the sun. Thankfully although the sun was out it was not as hot or humid as earlier in the week. That said by the end of the day I still ended up very sunburnt. The day was spent switching between dips in the sea & sunbathing. I grabbed a lunch of fried shrimp & chips. I was too confused by there option of fish & chips w/fries.
We changed & grabbed some presents for the two birthday parties we were attending tonight. The first of which was in Brooklyn which involved an hour subway journey on the N train.
The party was good fun with tasty vegan food as well as chocolate cake. A guy there had attended Durham university so we chatted about that. There were also further discussions on a variety of topics that passed the time very quickly.
The second party was at the village in Manhattan. The theme for this party was a picnic. Triangle sandwiches with their crusts cut off & boxed wine helped achieve that effect. The flat itself was large, in a old building that even had a period fire place. We took the opportunity to go up on the roof & enjoy the view.
We stopped for a night cap at a nearby bar where we were very unsuccessful on the quiz machine.
