With a slightly heavy head I got up at 9 & decided to take a stroll through Prospect Park. Not running around it this time allowed me to stop and enjoy it as well as grabbing some photos. I did a just over two mile loop of one of the lakes, stopping off to sit in the sun at various point. It was only 10:30 but temperatures were already up to 26 degrees.
After the walk I went back to the apartment to have sometime out of the sun & watched a few episodes of the show on Amazon Prime. It was nice to have a day of doing very little as from Friday it's a lot more action packed.
Around 16:00 I grabbed the 5 train up to 86th street and had a short stroll through Central Park.
At 17:45 I met Emily in her old neighbourhood with her friend Alison for Soul Cycle. This may strike people as a strange thing to do with your evening on holiday when the sun is out & many happy hours are in full flow. I am one for trying new things though & once again, I had the weekend in mind.
Soul Cycle closest comparison for people would be spinning. Yet with some notable differences. The class sizes are larger, they dim & switch off the lights at various stages of the 45minute class. You also need to have pre purchased or rent specialist shoes that clip you into the bike. During the course of the class they provide light weights for arm exercises to do whilst you continue to peddle. An late emphasis is placed on your core as well. The experience was very enjoyable and a good workout too. Emily looked after me very well thought ensuring I didn't look too much like a nit-wit. Now that I have attended Stefan has no excuse for not going with her.
After Soul Cylce still extremely sweaty we all linked up with Stefan at a Mediterranean, predominately Turkish, restaurant. Sharing a hot meze to start, a bottle of Turkish Rose the meal went down well, with clean plates all round. I opted for a Iskender Kebab for a main. Only the second time in my life I have done this, both with Stefan of course.
Back at the apartment we had some Prosecco while packing our bags for the morning. Poor Gus (the cat) had been locked in the bedroom all afternoon. Ironically in an effort to prevent him from gaining access to the cables he likes to chew on, located in the bedroom.
We watched some Archer & John Oliver before calling it a night.
