Ponferrada Rest Day 2
Last night I met with Marivi, Fernando, Lucier and the rest of the family for drinks at a bar around the corner!
It was fantastic to see everyone as it had been over a year since I had been living with them all in Renante during the 2011 summer holidays!
I had a tapas at the bar which was one of the best yet in Spain: tortilla patatas triple decker sandwich - basically two pieces of tortilla stuffed with hams, lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayo.
The family are all working but Marivi will be finished at school by 2pm so I am going to meet her and join the family for a home cooked lunch!
This morning I woke very early and it was raining quiet heavily - another reason I am glad to be resting and inside!
It is strange going from walking everyday, seeing beautiful sites and meeting loads of people to being stuck inside. Therefor I am very board but know the rest is exactly what the Dr ordered.
So I continue to soak the blisters and Ice the shins in the hope that in about 3-4 days I will be back to 100%. I could just take 2-3 days but the plan is still to walk to Porta in Portugal after I arrive in Santiago and thus another 20-25 days walking ahead.
I went around to Marivi's for lunch and had gwockamoaley and chicken followed by some amazing homemade fig marmalade and yogurt!
There apartment is absolutely amazing to say the least - Penthouse sweet on the 10th floor overlooking all of Ponferrada - 3 x floors and about 6 rooms and meticulously maintained and designed!
When I left they loaded me up with a bag full off tomatoes and green peppers grown in their garden along with some fig jam :)
So the way I see it I can't leave until I get through all of it!
I am comfortable in Ponferrada, my body is recovering, Ivsm eating incredibly well and I get to see my good friends - so I shall make the most of it. The Camino awaits me but it doesn't pull me and command me like it did for the first 17 days - I will get there when I get there and I have made a promise to myself to enjoy every moment of it from this point in and thus I won't be walking through excruciating pain, bad weather or early morning in the dark!
